It teaches us not to take the Bible as gosple, but to think for ouirselves. The Bible has been rewritten many times, each time the translation has changed the meanings of the words. Each of us, if told to write the same verse from the Bible in their own words would have a different meaning than everybody else. Think I'm joking? Try it at your next Bible study group. Pick a verse out of the Bible, ask everyone there to write that verse in their own words, and then compare everybody's text. Use this as a topic for the study.

God told Jacob He would bless his family - God did not take back His promise even though the wrong son received Jacobs blessings.

That's an example of something that He doesn't necessarily condone, but prophesied in advance. Jacob wrestled with God and everyone throughout his life, look at how hard he worked for Rachel. He did things his own way most of the time.

Now, consider the story of Rahab. As a prostitute, she was a woman who evidently wrestled with God, too. Yet she protected the spies who went into Jericho by lying to the guards who went in to kill them.

Just because God predicts it doesn't necessarily mean that he approves of it, but I believe that this does teach us that lying to save someone's life is justified.

Good question.

it came true because it was meant to be so.

Remember Jacob bought the birth right from Esau and with that birth right came the blessing for the first born.

he was only getting what was rightfully his.

It means nothing at all.
Now then, lets concentrate on what REALLY matters, you know, like things in the 21st century. Things that back thousands of years ago they had absolutly no clue about and couldn't even imagine in their wildest dreams.
If we all concentrated on how important things are today as opposed to back then, we could possibly make some progress.

Humans have free will and that means they sometime lie (some more than others).

God has a master plan and the plan will be fulfilled.

Teaches us that humans have free will, and that God knows if someone is going to lie during their life.

I think that humans cannot begin to fully understand the divine, it is so far beyond us.
