ok im an atheist and im just asking this for discussion i want to see what answers i get.
The ten commandments say we are not supposed to kill, yet god has killed more people than anyone else. We are taught to forgive and yet, God turned a woman into salt just for disobeying her husband. Why are his morals so much different from ours?
The punishment for adam and eve seems very unfair. it was just a freaking apple. they had no idea of the consequences! But God would not fogive them

He doesn't have any. He's a twisted, bipolar, socipath who gets off on torturing and tormenting human beings. At least that's how he's portrayed in that stupid Bible book. The real reason he has no morals is because he doesn't exist.

I'm so sorry that you have such vast misconceptions about the things you listed. I'll try to be brief:

The 10 commandments original Hebrew word means "murder", not kill. There are reasons to kill people, but no reason for murder. God did not murder anyone.

Lot's wife is the woman turned into a pillar of salt. Read the story again, God said don't look back or you will be turned into salt. We don't really know exactly how God eliminated Sodom and Gomorrah, but the effect was so far-reaching that Lot was told not to look at it. Sort of like not looking into a welding torch light, only a gazillion times worse.

You say the punishment for Adam and Eve seems unfair and they had no idea of the consequences. Yes, they did. Again, God said don't eat it, you'll die. They ate it, and years later, they died. They became mortal, not like the god's that the serpent said they'd be. So their children became mortal as well. And so on and so on, till you were born. It bites sometimes huh. lol

Careful now, God will not be mocked. You are on dangerous ground with this kind of thinking.

Funny you would bring up the Ten Commandments without first checking to see it you are correct. Thou shall not murder is the correct translation. God has not killed anyone at anytime. God created life not death.

Are you sure that God turned this wife of Lot into salt. Could it be that she as she turned around to look back on Sodom longing for the life style she loved was overcome with the horror of what she saw and just died. Anything still in that area immediately is covered with salt.

Where is the apple you speak of in the Book of Genesis? There is none found there. Adam and Eve did not eat anything but she Eve was wholly seduced by the serpent then gave unto Adam. You need to go back and study to show yourself all the truths contained in the Word of God.

You also forget that God after spending 3 days and nights in the grave went to the people from the time of Noah and preached to them and many were forgiven then and are now in Paradise with Jesus Christ the Lord of lords and King of kings.

Good fortune in your search and if you need help, I;m here always for you and anyone in need of life through Jesus Christ the Lord.><>

There are answers on several levels. Of course if you don't believe in God, you can't blame him.

First, commandments (which lead to morals) are for the benefit of mankind. People who obey the 10 commandments will be happier than those who don't.

Second, we can't judge God based upon the human misfortune. We can't know joy without sorrow or pleasure without pain. We have agency to choose the course that we take.

God does give us an example of his morals. He keeps his promises. The Lord, is bound when you do what He says; but when you do not what He says, you have no promise.

There is a law irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated. And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated.

The 'punishment' of Adam and Eve was for the benefit of all mankind. If Adam had not transgressed he would not have fallen, but he would have remained in the garden of Eden. And all things which were created must have remained in the same state in which they were after they were created; and they must have remained forever, and had no end. They would have had no children; wherefore they would have remained in a state of innocence, having no joy, for they knew no misery; doing no good, for they knew no sin. Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy.

You actually have a bit of a mix-up. It instructs us not to murder. The Hebrew word used in the 10 commandments is much different from most instances in the Bible. When God tells the Hebrews to destroy cities, and people he is telling them to "kill". It is a slightly different connotation. Also, I would say our morals are based off the unchanging characteristics of God. The Bible teaches us we all are born with a spirit, which is brought to life once we accept Christ. The instance of the fall of man was disobedience. And it wasn't just an apple. The sinful nature of man was added once this act was committed.

Adam and Eve didn't ask for forgiveness, they both pointed the finger. Adam blamed Eve, Eve blamed the serpent, neither repented for doing what they knew God didn't want them to do. I believe 'kill' means murder in the bible. God gave us life, God can take it away, (our physical life here, that is). We need to FEAR God as well as LOVE God.

Morals: a judgment of the goodness or badness of human action and character. It doesn't include God except in reference to Jesus at that time "he" was subject to the idea of high or low moral character. Lot's wife was turned into a pillar of salt because she disobeyed God's word(do not look back), not the word of her husband. With God my easiest explanation is the experience of unending unconditional love with an egg timer that may ding the end of your allowance to continue in that love. God's love is unending and unconditional for everyone, but(god bless everyone in that they don't) the decision to go to hell is your own. God's love does not stop but you are not longer allowed to exist in it, you are simply shut out from it< all that is good. In the story of Adam and Eve consuming the "apple", fruit of knowledge, however you wish to refer to it, changed their complete nature they now knew guilt, shame, and so on....they became aware. When God sought them they tried to hide themselves because they knew they had gone against him, knew it was wrong and didn't want to face it. That is now considered part of the nature of humans. They made their own decisions.

Personally I think that the bible is all ridulous crap. More people throughout history have been killed "in the name of god" than by anything else. Wars have been declared over religious bull***t. I would say just not to dwell on ways of thinking that you don't believe in anyway....don't waste your time! Let the christians be tortured by their own imagined mental demons, and consider yourself lucky that you know better.

They knew the consequences very well. God specifically told them NOT to eat of it. They knew right away they had sinned because they hid themselves from God (as though they could ever hide from Him).

There HAS to be a punishment for sin. God cannot tolerate it.

P.S. It was not an apple.

you really don't want to see what answers you get, you already know the truth and have chosen not to recieve it, you just want to get somebody riled up over your totally ignorant question, if you were that curious about God you would read His Word, get an understanding and then you would come out of that miserable darkness that satan has you trapped in. all you atheist are always taking scripture out of context, just like satan ,when he tried to tempt Jesus, but just like then it Won't work. get a life a REAL life in Christ and be set free.
