Technically, Native Americans were considered citizens in 1926.
I hope illegals never become citizens of this country. They aren't entitled to anything here and they don't deserve to be citizens of this great land.

Technically, I think of US citizens becoming citizens of North America. Native Americans were just there, so they were the original denizens.
I believe that some illegal immigrants should have to serve a set amoutn of time in the army before becoming a citizen or they should register and wait for a set period of time. Some do not assimilate because the culture is too different, and the are afriad because they do not know the culture or language.
Illegals deserve amnesty for now at least and should have to pay taxes to become citizens (not heavy since most are probably being forced at minimum wage or less jobs).

The sad truth is, being born in the US automatically makes you a citizen. That needs to change. Many foreign nationals become naturalized citizens and I don't have a problem with that.

I was under the impression that Native Americans were "grandfathered" in to American citizenship

They deserve no amnesty. They do not assimilate because they don't have to. We have everything here in cali in spanish and english. We make everything easy for them, welfare included.

Native Americans were in North America before any other race.
They don't have it good. They got all their land taken away and a lot of them are poor.

they are called native americans because they were here first. they owned the land before it ever became the united states.....they aren't immigrants, hence the name NATIVE americans. i don't want to be mean...but......duhh
