I work at a vets office and it sounds like your dog probably has a foxtail in it's ear. it is that time of year and we get a ton of them. i wouldnt wait much longer because if it gets burrowed into the soft tissue it will cause an infection and the dog might have to have surgery to get it out, so dont wait!

ear mites if he has been around cats or other dogs, but most likely its an ear infection. what kind of dog is he? if he is a swimmer its most defiantly an infection. antibiotics both orally and drops into the ear should clear it up nicely. take him to the vet soon because shaking his head that hard a cause a secondary problem called an aural hematoma. the blood vesels in the ears rupture and fill the pina od the ear with blood , looks like a giant blood blister but is very painfull to the dog.

Could be a few things. The obvious is an ear infection. He could also have something like a foxtail down in there, with a secondary infection starting. Another would be ear mites. All of these things are very easily treatable with medication.

Could be a scratch in the ear, or ear mites. Either way, the vet will give you stuff to put in the ears.
Make sure he isnt scratching it and making it worse. Is the ear hot? That would be a sure sign of infection.

Sounds like some sort of infection to me. My dog gets yeast infections in her ears. I have meds from the vet for it. I really think a visit to your vet is called for here.

I'd definitely advise going to the vet. There are a few things it could be, but as far as I know nothing that you can do much about without a diagnosis. Just rub his ears a lot. :)

Good luck!

Same thing happened to my dog. We took her to the vet and they pulled out hair from her ears. It was very painful for her and for me watching. Will never do it again.

has he been hearing any loud nosies. Dogs hear 10 times better then us so any loud noise might tickle there ear drum. My dog does thta when my dad plays guitar. Or maybe a bug git cought in his ears. Its possiable and sometimes seriuos.

Could be an infection if they are red inside or warm. If he was recently groomed they shake when the hair is shved off because it feels funny to them.

I agree, probably an ear infection. Or it could be allergies. Is he licking at his paws at all? That is another sign of allergies.
