Sorry, but that trip is only available by bus.
I have checked all over the Amtrak website.
City codes:
GTP for Grants Pass
BOI for Boise

UPDATE for HOGHEAD:
This data is valid. Before you accuse somebody of giving false data, make sure to check the facts
The "station" at Boise and Grants Pass is only a Greyhound bus station.
Check the station details page on the Amtrak website.

You can catch the Coast Starlight in Klamath Falls or Chiloquin, or Eugene. Coming from Grants Pass, Klamath Falls and Chiloquin are about equi-distant, so pick the best highway.

I would guess (and this is only a guess) that you would travel to Portland or Seattle to connect east bound to a station near Boise. It seems to me that there is a stop in Featherville, on the Snake River. This was three decades ago. I'd be willing to bet you can get close. Searching from Grants Pass to Boise wouldn't yield any results. so the above data is invalid.

Climb aboard!!! You will see some spectacular scenery. Rail travel, while comparatively expensive to other forms of travel, provides a window to the world that cannot be appreciated except by travelling by rail.

Delays are part and parcel of this mode of transportation. If you are travelling for pleasure, where time is not a constraint, you will have a pleasureable train ride. If "ya gotta be there", train travel I would not recommend.

If you can, take the train. AMTRAK is deserving of our support. After all, our tax dollars are funding it.

Addendum for manofadvntr: Looks like both ratpac and I can catch a train. Enjoy your bus ride.

take the Coast Starlight from Portland to Seattle, and then take the Empire Builder from Seattle to Spokane, where you can then take a Greyhound Bus from Spokane to Boise. Trust me. this is the most direct route, as i have a full schedule of every Amtrak station, route, and connecting bus service.
