To me living in here in California where roads and Freeways are everywhere it has become the norm to get cut off or almost ran off the Freeway because of some Jerk who can't ignore thier cellphone. Ps. The Earpiece being safer is more like having a Doctor Implant a cellphone to your Brain!!!

Hey, I thought they were banned in cars in CA? Well, you have to read the book"Cell", by Stephen King, then you will really hate them.

I sort of agree with you, although it seems like you're blaming the tool here instead of placing the blame where it belongs: on the people who use the cell phones unwisely. It's true that recent studies have shown that using cell phones while driving, whether with an earpiece or not, impairs the driver to an extent that the driving becomes like that of an elderly person. However, the phone itself is not causing the accident, but the person. It's the person's inappropriate and unwise use of the potentially distracting phone that is responsible. Therefore, you should rephrase your question to say,

"Who agrees that people who use cell phones have greater potential to get into car accidents?"
That's a question I can wholeheartedly agree with.

As much as I hate to admit this, but I do beleive cell phones can cause accidents. My fiance' died in a car accident due to being on the phone. The sad thing was, he was on the phone with me. He used to call me on his way home from work when he was tired and I would keep him awake by talking to him. The night he got into his accident I think he dropped his phone and when he went to pick it up he lost control of his truck and flipped it several times. I didnt even know what happened until later. So to all u cell phone addicts out there, please be careful, u never know when the person ur talking to on the other end might not make it back home to u.

-Rubbernecking – Drivers slowing down their cars to watch what is going on
-Driver fatigue
-Passenger distractions
-Cell phones – Drivers using their commute time to make phone calls
-Looking at scenery
-Adjusting the radio

Rubbernecking is the leading cause of accidents and causes many traffic delays. There is also a trend to enact laws eliminating or limiting the use of cell phones in the car. When determining whether a driver was negligent, courts may look at factors such as driving above or below the speed limit, failing to signal, ignoring weather or traffic conditions, disobeying traffic signs, or driving under the influence.

What are the Other Causes of Car Accidents?
There are other causes of car accidents, including:

-Drunk driving – It is estimated that every 30 minutes, a person dies in an alcohol-related crash
-Reckless drivers – Drivers who drive recklessly or unsafely cause accidents through their aggressive driving – this may come as a result of improper or excessive lane changing, speeding, or improper passing on the road
-Automobile defects – A car accident may occur because of a defect in a driver’s car – in such a situation, the car manufacturer or supplier may be held liable
-Poorly maintained roads
-Malfunctioning traffic signals
-Other highway defects

here we go again. Cell phones don't cause accidents!! Drivers cause accidents. Drivers on cellphones cause more accidents.

They took a poll and asked cell phone users if they used their cell phone while they were driving. The result showed that only 20% of cellphone users used them while they drove!!!

Upon further questioning they discovered that 98% of the 80% lied

Cell phones don't cause accidents, people do. There are people who will read maps, put on makeup or eat while driving. They're all irresponsible and a danger while on the road.

I believe what you say is correct to certain extent. however, if everyone uses the proper accessories this ratio will go down dramatically.
for instance now a day almost every phone set comes with a hands free and have ability to be paired with bluetooth, most cars come with bluetooth installed on them too. if we take few minutes to work those out in our benefits, the number of accident will go down very fast.
hope to see that

studies also show that cell-phone use is as dangerous as drunk driving, because your ability to react quickly is decreased cuz your attention is on the phone, not the road...people using cellphones have the same if not worse response times then drunk drivers...

Studies have shown that when talking to cell phones, we become more distracted and don't pay as much attention to the roads as we normally would.

Actually, a study done by the AAA found that the leading accident-causing activity while driving... was... (*drumroll, please*)... eating.

I live in NY state, and cell phones while driving has been outlawed. People still do it, and I honestly can't say those who do are any worse drivers than people who don't.
