My husband and I jsut had sex the other day finally.. it was 3 weeks after I had my son.

It didnt' hurt too bad, just one position we could not do. I had an episiotomy, so we had to be careful.

Sex was very important to reinstate back into our marriage though, because we were starting to feel disconnected.

I would jsut recommend waiting until you feel comfortable, because i know that it can hurt a lot if you are not ready. start out masturbating to get used to being touched down there again and see how that feels.

also if you have sex earlier than when your dr says you can, use a condom to prevent infections, because your cervix still might not be closed, and then you can get nasty uterine infections

have fun!

Good Lord- this question always stumps me. You just had a baby!! give it a break!! Your nether regions need a rest. They are not back to normal for at least 6-8 weeks after delivery - longer if you had an episiotomy. You can harm yourself if you do it too soon. Relax. Sex can wait. Take care of your baby and your body.

I haven't had children but I do have lots of younger sibilings and cousins (a few cousinfs are older). Anyways I've heard its good to wait at least a month to avoid tearing or discomfort, mabey even more. I would suggest asking your OBGYN. Congrats on the new baby by the way

The first one I waited 4 months, but that's because her father and I were seperated until then. The second one, two weeks, but that was bad, it hurt so bad, and it stung a lot because I was cut. I would wait until after 6 weeks when your Dr. gives you the ok. You don't want to prolong your healing process or be in pain.

You are supposed to wait 6 weeks. But with my first I only waited about 3 weeks and made him do all the work.

i had my first follow up visit with the OB at 4 weeks post-partum and was given the OK to have sex again. i had a very smooth vaginal birth with no tearing, but the dr. said he put in one stitch. i think this was the "courtesy stitch". I had more pain having sex again that i did giving birth. It took nearly 6 months for that pain to go away while having sex. Although, i still have NO labido since i'm breastfeeding

Dr's and midwives I talked to recommend six weeks since the female is highly fertile after giving birth as a result they had mommas come back nine mounts to the day after having the first baby.
