-If the answer is "yes", then there's something that God can't do (lift such a boulder)

-If the answer is "no", there is still something that God can't do (create such a boulder)

This would mean that God is not all-powerful.
What do you think about this?

You have created an error in logic. It does not prove anything about the existance or non-existance of God.

A boulder that cannot be lifted, by definition, cannot be lifted. If the boulder can be lifted (by God, or anyone), then it was never too big to be lifted.

You might as well ask "Can God create something that is both 100% black and 100% white at the same time?" or "Can God create something that is dead and alive at exactly the same time?" or "can it rain and be dry at exactly the same time?" or "Can God freeze time and allow time to run at the same time?" I'm sure if you have a keen mind you can come up with two things that are mutually exclusive and then ask if God can do that. It's not a "God problem," it's a logic problem. Just think of two things that can't both be true at the same time, and there you go.

This "question" has come up more than a few times. It's a fun conundrum to play with, but at bottom it's a non-question, for where would the boulder be located--what's it being lifted FROM? The Earth? But it'd have to be larger than Earth, so then the Earth would be resting on the boulder. You're always going to have God lifting (or not) the boulder FROM something. What could that something possibly be?

This question has come up again !(please look at the 'source')... It is right that the question comes up again. The effort to 'challenge' is laudable, and hope it really leads to ultimate truth ! Only, persistence, and sincere involvement is required. One has to be intense, not 'serious or rigid' .. no need to miss the fun !
For a convincing answer...
Logically the question wins ! Only either of it is possible, and whichever way, God seemingly stands to be a loser isn't it ? So contradictions cannot co-exist ! Then check the premise. What if the boulder (to be created or uncreated) , the YOU , and the God are one and the same thing ? Sounds funny , isn't it ? Well, suppose, you are the dreamer, and in your dream you try to create a very very very powerful person , who is trying to create a boulder so big that he himself cannot lift ? Now the ball is in YOUR court. Come back to me for the next 'round'... let us to-gether head towards a WIN-WIN situation ! Let us make it HAPPEN !

The question you are asking deals not with what God can or cannot do, it has to do with his state of being. Technically, your answer is no, because if he were to make such a boulder, he would cease to be omnipotent, and therefore cease to be God.

omnipotence (all-powerful as you put it) does not mean that God can do all things. There are things that God cannot do. Can God create a boulder so big that He cannot move it? This is a false dilemma. The question assumes that God can do anything: but we need to understand that God cannot violate His nature. If He were to make a rock too big for Him to move, He would cease to be sovereign. (The rock would be too big for God) By definition God is sovereign. (Nothing is too big for God) Therefore, the answer to the question is NO! God cannot act against His nature, God cannot be not-God, God cannot be both eternal and created, God cannot sin, cannot lie, cannot die and cannot learn.

lol..... I think you're trying harder than you need to....

God can make such a boulder.................. who cares about a boulder.

There is someting God can't do.... it's even in the Bible..... God can't make your choices for you. He is a gentlemen, He has given you the choice to believe and have eternal life, it is up to YOU what you choose.

Of course We can, and We do so all the time. But We are still all-powerful because We ARE the boulder.

the respond to this questions presupposes that you may understand God. Do you fairly imagine we've the flexibility to really understand God? also, what do you recommend by using a rock so enormous he might want to no longer raise it? it truly is only yet otherwise of asking what's going to take position even as an in-movable merchandise is pushed on by using an irresistable rigidity? seeing that our lack of ability to proper outline the parameters of the question is possibly, i'm no longer confident all of us comprehend a thanks to ask the question.

Proverbs 15:2
The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.

You're smart, right? You should get what I mean by this verse.
