I'm not sure if you are White or Black, but I would recommend braiding your hair to make it more puffy. After a good wash, and braiding the hair, I believe when you take it down it will be more puffy.

texturize your roots, better done by a cosmetologist, they willl do this with a thinning shears or razor, then put mousse in the root area, and blow dry , turning your head up side down, this will lift the hair away from the scalp, and texturizing will make the hair lighter.

Try spraying hair spray on the roots when it is damp and then blow dry it with your head upside down. Or you could back comb it lightly all over then smooth it down.

Blow dry it upside down. This gives your hair a lot more volume. I have extremely fine hair, so I do this daily.

Bend over and dry your hair upside down. Use gel. Back comb or tease it, and use stiff hair spray.
