Sleep (if you can) with your head elevated on an extra pillow or get into the recliner to sleep. Keep your head up to keep the throbbing down.
Put ice on your face, but not on your tooth.
This is just to get you through until you can see your dentist in the morning.

Oh i feel your pain. I had a really bad toothache before I found out I needed a root canal. I had to have tylenol with codeine for the pain to go away. I put ice on my cheek and laid on the tile floor for the coolness for a while. It also helped when I ate bread and sucked out of a straw (strange). Hope the pain subsides and be sure to get in to the dentist even if the pain goes away. If it is a cavity, it only gets worse. Unbearable to a degree! Try anbesol too, that may help. Oh and don't worry, if you do need a root canal, they aren't that bad. I am a huge wimp and it really didn't bother me.

I would try ambesol,, it helps for like five minutes.. see a DDS or go to the ER,, they may give you stronger pain meds and possibly antibiotics if they see an infection,, if there is an infection, it will take probably up to two days for the antibiotic to kick in then it will take the edge off and plan on taking some time off of work,, you may have to take some strong pain meds!! I am a registered dental assistant,, good luck!! If they give you antibiotics you will feel better but make sure you have the Root canal done or take the tooth out otherwise the infection will come back

Try using extra mouthwash too. And if you haven't already, schedule a visit to the dentist. I know how bad toothaches can get: I've lost a few hours of sleep to them too. Meanwhile, keep popping that tylenol.
Good luck!

put an aspirin on the tooth (or between the tooth and gum) and let it sit there. for some reason it makes the toothache go away. that will help for tonight. have you flossed around the tooth? you could have a bit of food stuck between the teeth or by the gum line. call the dentist tomorrow to see what the real problem is. Hope you feel better soon.
NOTE: FOR PUTTING ONE BETWEEN GUM AND TOOTH - ASPIRIN IS DIFFERENT THAN TYLENOL OR OTHER PAIN RELIEVERS - UNCOATED BAYER-TYPE IS BEST)

first make an appointment with the dentist...get yourself some advil it helps to relieve the pain and since it is an inflammation it works better than tylenol...also get yourself some extra strength orajel this will numb the area...rise with salt water as well...it's the worst pain after giving birth so make sure you see the dentist as soon as possible you dont want this to happen again.

Ibuprofen will help with the pain until you get in to see the dentist, as soon as possible. You can also put an ice bag on the side of your head that is hurting so badly.

Well, if your gum is inflammed (puffy), rinse with salt water.
Put an ice-cube to numb it temporary.
Call your dentist for an emergency appointment.
