I never had a doubt if you ever existed
I only have a problem when people insist on
Taking their hate and placing it in your name!

It doesn't sound like he's talking crazy. I'm not sure if he is telling the truth because I'm not sure of his beliefs, and I don't think he's being un-christian.

What the song seems to be saying is that people claiming to be Christians are doing very un-Christian things in the name of Christianity. Which I guess FF doesn't agree with. (neither do I).

Speaking the truth. How is that un-Christian? It is un-Christian when people use God as an excuse for their hatred, bigotry, and self-righteous attitude. The fundamental tenet of Christianity is love. It is unfortunate that some people give Christianity a bad name by professing to be Christian while judging others in a way that is antithetical to what they profess to believe.

I think he's speaking the truth. Some of the biggest atrocities in history have been committed in God's name. The first one that comes to mind is the Spanish Inquisition and another is the Salem Witch Trials.

Dude franz ferdinand is kick ***....no one cares if his lyrics are weird. I am a huge fan and they arent really religious. I write lyrics myself, and they dont always have to do with stuff i agree with, its really just whatever works. Sometimes i have a random urge to just write a song and lyrics just flow out, not controlling it. Prolly what he was doing.

FRANZ FERDINAND IS KICK *** BIATCHES

I think he's speaking the truth. A lot of blood has been shed, literally thousands of years, in the name of God. The name changes from time to time, and so does the technology, but it's the same thing: one person or group sticks it to another and says God has his/her support. It's all a load of huey.

I think that he is saying he supports and believes in god but not organized christianity.... he hates the people that use god for their personal agenda....
