Sounds to me like your pushing yourself to fast to soon, slow the pace down and the frequency you are running.
1 workout you might want to go for just a casual jog, then sprint the next time but give your body a day of rest.
Sorry can't be of more help.

I think you pulled an abdominal muscle, you've probably been slumming this whole summer and now just trying to get back in to shape, but you shouldn't have started at 2 miles a day, going from 0 miles a day, your body isn't used to it, ice the area, and stretch really ggod, restart training in 3 days, starting at 1/2 mile per day for 3 days, then increasing the amount slowly afterwards, until your fine w/ that amounbt of running. stop if it hurts again though and go to a doctor.

I don't run, but I used to hike a lot and I do remember a few things from my old classes.

Don't worry about running faster, at least not yet. Also, are you eating or drinking anything before you run? I've found that heavy exercise right after a meal causes some pretty bad stitches in my side, or can cause stomach troubles.

Since you've already scheduled a doctor's visit, I won't add that.

Happy running!

You are probably pushing too hard. The cramping can be caouse by lactobaccilase, a byproduct of tearing down muscles. Bodybuilders go through this, and it's common amongst runners as well. The lactobaccilase builds up in the muscle tissue, causing it to spasm, and cramp, which causes pain. Try running slower, for shorter periods, slowly working up to greater speed and distance over a period of time

Yes you can take midol if not on your period. Definitely see the dr. You have to condition your body. Its not used to the type of running you're starting to do. Be sure to stay hydrated. Plus since you just started running and taking those vitamins check with the dr to be sure you're taking the right stuff in the right amounts.

it may just be that you are pushing yourself too hard at first... slow it down a hair and see if that helps..especially if you never ran before, it may be that your body just aint used to this kinda workout.... also, at your age your body is going to be going thru lots of changes and growing pains... we all went thru it ... just some worse than others... its okay..... just talk to your doctor about it on the 14th and im sure he/she will say about the same thing... and yes you can take midol before and after your period... Good luck

it could be a medical condition but it can also be the fact that you started this vigorous work out...people ignore this but you should always visit a doctor before you start any vigorous training...just take it easy until you see the doctor...ask him all the questions you have write them down if you have to...sounds funny but it is better to be safe than sorry
