You can. Usually the one pill, then follow with another 1 pill if there is another episode. You do not want to continue that for too long. You should stop all food for 24 hours to give the intestine to rest. The start small meals of bland food like boiled chicken/hamburg and rice. If that does not work, see the vet. GSD are prone of MANY intestional problems!!!!!!!!!
Yeah...milk and cheese is a GREAT idea for diarrhea!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any vet that would give that advice is a loser!!!!!!!!
It is totally safe to give one whole tablet. Adult humnas can take 2 tablets and then another one with a next episode. I have given that dose for years...my dogs range from 105#-145#.
If you give Pepto instead, be aware that it can cause BLACK looking stool which looks like bleeding!!!!! If you give it and end up at the vet, be sure to tell them so they do not think there is intestional bleeding!!!!!!

The clinic I work at usually recommends Kaopectate. Call your vet clinic for a correct doseage.
But the first choice is always withhold food for 24 hours then slowly start back with small amounts of food. It would be best if you could get some Purina EN from your vet. Bland diet for stomach upset.
Never give Pepto it has aspirin in it.

My vet recommends Pepto Bismal for upset tummies. If it doesn't go away in a few days, take it to the vets. But usually, all they will say is "gee it probably ate something that didn't agree with it" and make you give it pepto and white rice with it's food.

My mom has given her cats and dogs Immodium before and as far as I know, it didn't do them any harm.
We used to give them Kaopectate when I was growing up.

if it is in pill form. give him half of it though. i had a 120 pound shepard and i would give him a half of a dose that i would give a person. afterwards i would give him a bowl full of milk and a slice of cheese to settle the stomach for the discomfort i thought he would have. the vet told me it was alright to give to him.
