We all hate going to the dentist, but if you don't go, you could risk losing the tooth all together, and no one wants to look like a toothless bum!!

I can relate. I am such a wimp, scared of dentits, frightened of needles. I had a very bad toothache and kind of ignored it. Then over one weekend (of course) it got so painful I could not sleep. I went to the dentist and they couldn't do anything right away because it was infected. I had to get a prescription for tylenol w/codeine just to sleep and for the infection to go away. Then finally, the dentist was able to do a root canal.

Now I'm telling you, you have to go to the dentist. Even if you need a root canal, it is not nearly as bad as you'd think. Also, the pain of the root canal is MUCH LESS than the pain of a tooth ache.

Just think, once you go and get this taken care of be sure to continue to go every six months. Preventative maintenance and you shouldn't get in this predicament again. A little cavity will be nothing - i just had a couple filled, no pain whatsoever!

I hope your tooth feels better, go to the dentist! If you tell them you are in drastic pain, they should be able to get you in asap. Don't be scared, put it in perspective - dentists do root canals/fill cavities ALL the time, plus there are much worse things you could be going through! Also, the technicians are usually really friendly, if the novacaine has your worried, they'd probably be happy to hold your hand so you have something to squeeze - or they may have a stress ball for you to squish.

Good lucky babe!

Bite the bullet and go to the dentist! Cavities don't heal themselves and will eventually start rotting and then rotting the teeth next to it and so on and so forth. A cavity is when the pulp of your tooth is exposed from decay. It will only get more painful and cause you tons of other problems including bad breath. Just go to the dentist. You and your nervous system will thank you later. Not to mention any future guys/girls you may want to kiss.

I had a really bad cavity and I couldn't get to the dentist right away(money) so my daughter who had worked in a dental lab told me about a temporary filling. It worked for me I just had to re-apply it from time to time.
These products are carried by most drugstores:
Maximum strength liquid anbesol
Temparin Filling material by DENTEK
First with your toothbrush clean out the cavity, then rinse your mouth. Use a qtip to apply the anbesol to the cavity before trying to fill it. Just follow the directions on the back of the package.

If you don't go to the Dentist, it will continue to get worse and worse. One day you will eventually need it extracted and need way more work than a simple drilling procedure.

Ask the Dr. for more novacaine and suck it up. It will be well worth it in the long run.

Colgate Luminous strengthens tooth enamel. It's reversed some tooth decay that I was getting as a result of using "natural" Tom's of Maine toothpaste, which is garbage. It can reverse cavities, but it may be too late. Worth a try, anyway.

You HAVE to go to the dentist unless you want your tooth to get completely rotten. The pain is not going to go away unless you get professional treatment for it. If you wait too long, theyre going to have to pull out your tooth, and I'm sure that is going to be more painful than enduring getting a filling put it. GO TO THE DENTIST!!!! lol

If it hurts really bad.its probably abcessed. You need to get to a dentist. No one like dentist but you need to go its only going to get worse. He will put you on a antibiotic usually to get the infection under control before he does anything to it

Go to the dentist . The worse it gets the worse the dentist visit will be. As it is it will probably be: a) painful, b) long and c) expensive.

well its best u overcome ur dental fear n hve ur tooth filled up. if left it may get worse n the tooth may need to b extracted or u may hve to go for root canal treatment. n abcess means pus. when the pulp starts to necrotise u most probably would end up having abcess in the root region which we call a periapical lesion. so visit ur dentist if u wish to save ur tooth. dont worry, nowadays even kids dont fear dental treatment. so go ahead for the treatment.
