The Bible states that all the people in the world have tried to build a structure to reach Heaven(the tower of Babel). In so doing, they angered god and he punished them by giving to every group of people a different language, so they would not understand each other and stop with the construction on the tower. This is also the birth place of the concept of "a nation".

According to the narrative in Genesis Chapter 11 of the Bible, the Tower of Babel was a tower built by a united humanity to reach the heavens. Because man had it in his heart to be like God, God stopped this project by confusing their languages so that each spoke a different language. As a result, they could no longer communicate with one another and the work was halted. The builders were then scattered to different parts of Earth. This story is used to explain the existence of many different languages and races.
Therefore, you will not be able to trace all language to just one language.

I don't understand why God would consider making everyone speak different languages a punishment. I think the differences in languages is just amazing and I believe all languages are beautiful and awesome to study/learn/speak.
Also, according to history, due to shifts in behaviour, geography, history, beliefs, etc. each group on the earth began to develop their own way of speaking. As this happened, each subgroup (such as Indo-European, Romantic, Slavic, etc.) began to develop into multiple similar languages again due to location/culture, and sometimes even nationalism and patriotism.

Does "came together" mean "happen"?
Langauge evolves over time like everything else. There was not some magic wand saying "you speak this way, and you speak that way." It's a gradual process brought on by geological conditions, culture, and beliefs.

They are not all "together" many people are not even multilingual. But...the bible says originally all people spoke the same language until God was angered and changed it.

I don't think there's any correct or incorrect ones.. It's just a different way of communication by people in different parts of the world.
