I tried to help him too much. He got angry with me for bringing it up at all (after he was sleeping for 3 days). I didn't mean to anger him -- he's such a good friend and has been for a long time. I think I've lost him as my friend now. I should NOT have interfered in his life -- telling him about medications, etc. I think he's gone from my life for good and I'm really sad because he's such an awesome person. I hope you people with bipolar realize that it isn't the bipolar we look at about you ----- IT IS YOU. If you are bipolar, or know about it, is there anything I can do to fix this?? He just a "good friend." My best friend.

Perhaps a short card. Say something like this.

I am sorry if I was pushy or bossy. I like you the way you are. I appreciate your friendship. I respect your feelings and understand if you need space. If you do want to talk to me I am here just say hello.

Then just let it go and give him sapace. He may come back on his own. It may not be as bad as you thing. Just realize he has to deal with his disease on his own terms and he is not going to live life like you do. He may have to sleep a long time. He is not going to fit in the same mold you do. Just set him free do not push or be obsessive or that will send him away for good. He may come back if you have not already done that.

I am bipolar as well. My friend goes through the same thing you are experiencing prettty regularly. When I go psychotic on him, he'll back off for a few days. He always comes back, and I really appreciate that. I think your friend will appreciate it too if you continue to let him know you still care and want to help him. I would recommend sitting down with him and talking to him on one of his "good days". He'll be more receptive to your help then. Just keep telling him that its him and his well-being you care about. Try to talk him into getting professional help. Offer to go with him if he'll just get the help he needs. I hope this advice helps you.

Bipolar often causes behavior like you saw, Butterflies. In a few hours perhaps he'll be really down on himself for acting like he had toward you. Try not to take it too much to heart.

Once he gets himself and his life under control, he may even thank you.

Good luck, Honey!

i think my mom is bipolar. thats why i moved so soon. lol. no, i don't think there's much you can do.

Seriously, though, just apologize. In time, he'll forgive you. It just takes bipolars a little longer because they're messed up.

Once he does get on his medication, then I'm sure he'll come around again. Don't take it too seriously, yet.
