that's a hard one
I would tell them that I loved them very much and it hurt me a lot to see them hurting themself and being destructive in that way. I would try not to lecture them, and jsut tell them that I would be ther for them no matter what if they ever needed me.
Hope this helps!

Tell them that you really care about them and that there is help out there. Tell them that they have a right to feel well. Tell them that there are medications and therapies that help many people. Tell them that doctors are there to help them.
You have to realize that you cannot do anything until they are ready.
If they threaten to you and you are a student you should see adult help. You can talk privately to a teacher, to the principal the school counsellor. You cannot handle this on your own. You may save your friends life if you get them help.
When I was in high school one of my friends threatened to me. One of my teachers saw me upset and then asked me what was bothering me. I told her. She took me to the counsellor immediately and had me tell her what my friend has said. They pulled him into his counsellor and talked to him. His talked it out and was okay. He was not mad at me.
If you are older you can contact the police and they can come talk to the person. They need to know where she lives.
It is easier if you can just get her to go for help. If she can just make an apointment and go for help and not have to go to the emergency room that will be so much easier on her. They really can make her feel better. I will not be easy, but medication and counselling can help and she can stop suffering. The longer people wait the longer they hurt. My father killed himself. I was 10 years ago and it still hurts me. We did not have warning signs. We did not know and could not help him.

Like others have said, get help! Your friend is in way too much trouble for you to take care of alone! Meanwhile, let your friend know that you're there and want to help.
Get the family involved if you can, call some counsellor or pastor.
And good luck.

GET HELP!
You really cannot deal with this for your friend and there's not really much you can do prevent his/her suicide. You should contact the mental health services and police immediately if this person is a threat to him/herself or others.

If I really cared about them, and they were immediate family, I would have them placed in the hospital. So they could get thehelp they need. If it was a friend I would tell their family, even if the person never spoke to me again.

Either help them get help, or tell someone who can help them get help. Unless you're a mental health professional, you aren't equipped to deal with this. Call someone NOW!

tell her you love her & you want her to get help...
see cnvc.org
if there is alcohol in her family, she could use Alanon, Alateen...
one thing is sure : She needs help...You alone are not enough...
but your love can be part of her support system...

i would tell them that I'm there for them anytime they need to talk but i wouldn't try and tell them to stop or try to guilt trip them out of it that would probably just make things worse
