Keep your head up. When your head is upright, your Eustachian tubes clear naturally. This is one one reason children with an ear infection don't seem to be in pain during the day, They are busy playing and running around and their Eustachian tubes are draining into the backs of their throats.

Sweet Oil !!! You get it in the pharmacy isle at your grocery store. Warm it up a little with warm water, put a couple of drops in the ear and then tear off a piece of Cotton ball and place it in the ear to keep the air out. You can also use baby oil if you can't find sweet oil(a nurse told me this). You probably should go see your doctor and he will probably give you an antibiotic but the oil will help ease the pain until the antibiotic kicks in.

Tylenol helps a little. I've found that lying with a heating pad (on low) against my ear for a few minutes at a time can help. I've had people blow their warm cigarette smoke in my ear... that helped the ear pain until I started coughing!

If you think you have an ear infection, you should see your doctor for a prescription of antibiotics.

Take care.

You can get ear drops that supposedly relieve symptoms, but it's a pain to sit there with your head tilted so the liquid stays in. I've also found that holding a warm, wet washcloth over your ear helps.

How old is the person w/ear infection? My 22 mth old has had lots of them, doctors suggest raising the crib mattress a little (pillow under the mattress), lying down increases the pressure which creates more pain. Otherwise, pain relievers. If you have lots of ear infections, see an Ear, Nose, & Throat Doc, they may consider tubes/drains.

Mix equal amounts of distilled water, alcohol, and white vinegar. Put this in your ear a couple times a day, leave for a few minutes, then drain. Especially do this after showering or swimming.
