My daughter gave me her JVC TV without the remote. I think the reason I can't program it to the cable TV box is because I can't get the TV on channel 3. Does anyone know how I can get the TV to channel 3? When I press the channel button on the TV, I only get channel 4, 5,7, 41, 47 & 68. Is there a way I can program it without the original TV remote?

YOU ONLY GET THOSE CHANNELS BECAUSE SHE PROBABLY USED "AUTO CHANNEL PRESET". USUALLY WHEN YOU USE THAT FEATURE YOU GET CHANNELS WITH VERY WEEK SIGNALS, WHICH YOU CAN DELETE. SIMPLY PUT TRY IT AND SEE IF CHANNEL 3 SHOWS UP.
ALSO LOOK ON THE BACK OF THE TV AND SEE IF IT HAS ANY OTHER "INPUTS", IF SO TRY ONE OF THOSE.

First thing to try might be to see if the cable box will output on Channel 4. Check the back of the box for a little switch that is labeled something like "Ch 3/4" and flip it to the other setting, and see if the cable box's output comes up on the TV's Channel 4.

If that doesn't work, double check to make sure the RF cables are connected to the jacks on the back of the cable box correctly. Remember, "RF In" is from the wall jack, "RF Out" is to the TV.

If you'd just like to run the TV's channel programming feature, either find a friend with a JVC TV who will let you borrow their remote for a while, or buy a universal remote with menu functions (arrow buttons and Menu or Setup button) and program that for your TV.

I had this same problem years ago. Just purchase a basic universal remote if the cable companies remote is not programable. Go into the menu of the TV and add channel 3. Way better to use Video 1 with some yellow, white and red RCA cables

Use the number buttons on the TV remote to go to 3 or 4 whichever one works in your area.
