No. If you are not a member then most churches will charge a rental fee. Members will get it for free.

There are many faiths which aren't strict about letting non-members use their church. There is usually a small fee for non-members. I do think it would be rude if you aren't planning a religious ceremony, plus the pastor of the church you are interested in would preform the ceremony. Hope that helps. P.S. I am Methodist, and I know they allow many different faiths to marry in the church.

No you don't have to belong to a particular church, but Catholic churches and priests require that you become members of their church and faith. But most of the other Christian churches would amazingly accomodate you and even offer to provide services of pastor to do the marriage ceremony. Talk to the pastor and see what they say. You may end up going to that church after all.

No it isn't rude. You will more than likely have to pay a few fees for the church. What is rude is when the pastor tells you that you can't have your wedding there because he won't have enough time to supervise it, (as he is not performing the service)...That happened to me..I got married a year ago...good luck and let me know if you need any other help..

You should choose a church that you have SOME sort of religious affiliation with. It's pretty disrespectful to just pick a random church due to it being "pretty" or something. You don't "rent" it like it's a rental car.

If you truly have no religious affiliations or preferences, or are of different faiths, consider a Unitarian Universalist church-- they are good for those situations because they pretty much mold ceremony to your beliefs. Check your phone book for one near you.

Many don't have a problem with it. Most won't let you if you're living together. My friend wound up getting married by the Justice of the Peace (and one she wasn't very happy with to boot) because most of the churches around here won't let you get married there if you're living together.

Not at all. My husband and I didn't go to church, but wanted to get married in one, so we called and they were fine with doing it. We did have to meet with the preacher beforehand though so he could get to know us and give us some pointers on marriage.

Absolutely not. They'll probably charge you more than they would if you were a member there (sometimes a member would even get it for free), and may require you to use a member of their clergy.
