He/she had all the time in the universe. Why rush things?

2006-07-25 15:03:09 · 11 answers · asked by Phoenix, Wise Guru 7 in Society & Culture Religion & Spirituality

And don't you think we are still being evolved into something higher? Creation is still going on?

I'm not saying God is real and I'm not saying evolution is real. That is not the point. My point is, why couldn't the two be reconciled by seeing evolution as God's tool? Why must it always be one or the other.

Evolution is found in the minutest of beings on this earth to the largest of planets /stars in this Universe (evolution of consciousness is the purest form of evolution and everything else that is manifested is as a result of this consciousness). And this evolution started from the beginning and will continue to a certain point where the awareness / consciousness of this Universe evolves to become ONE with the Creator. At that time point, this entire Universe goes back to the beginning where it all started. And then it starts to evolve all over again.

Thus the only constant in this Universe is change. And change is essentially evolution of the whole cosmos as a system. Hence God is indeed using evolution from the point He exploded himself in to this cosmos.

(Moreover, Time is just a device of human beings developed so that we have a "reference frame" against which anything can be measured / compared (hence development 24 hrs as the time for one rotation of the earth and 365 days as one revolution around the sun..so on and so forth). In a state of higher consciousness, time doesnt exist. There is only one moment called Now.)

Gos may have used evolution to some degree.

According the Hebrew texts, the word CREATED in Gen 1 can also mean RE-created. Jewish writings and tradition says that before Adam there was something else here on Earth. It's obvious that dinosaurs roamed the Earth at one time, but were wiped off the planet by the meteor that hit Mexico.

We can't be sure till we get to Heaven and ask, but what if Earth was once an unbeleiveably beautiful place? How long did it exist before Satan rebelled against God?

When Satan fell, he may have started to ruin the planet, especially after he found out that God was going to create Man to have more authority than Satan, himself. God RE-created Earth to be sinless and without death at the time of Adam to support mankind. According to anchient Jewish writings, this is very well what happened and it still fits Biblically. Christianity is only concerned with the time after God created Man, about 6000 years ago.

I think you may be mixing apples and oranges...when you consider that "time" is a man-made device, could it not be considered that one day can be an eternity, can be a second? Evolution is a scientific theory that can be tested, quantified. Creation is a spiritual belief, and as such must be taken on faith alone. There is no way to prove that God used or did not use evolution, because evolution and creation are in no way related to each other.

Best Wishes!

Yes I think god used evolution because science can disprove creationism. But they cannot dispute that there is a missing link. I believe there is not missing link it's just that god gave us a little more of himself. Think about it. Only one gene seperates a poodle from a wolf. That's a fact. And our DNA is only 90% ape. Go figure. And I think we are constantly evolving and we will never reach a point in evolution where we cannot evolve any higher.

Simply because He has told us how He did it! He spoke the universe into existence and made everything in 6 ordinary, literal days and rested on the seventh day.

Why would you say God is rushing things? He took 6 days when He could have done it in a twinkling of an eye! 6 days is a long time by God's standard. But He took 6 days and rested one day to set the pattern for man to follow, thus the basis for our 7 day week, which is the only division of time not determined by any astronomical feature or celestial movement of planets, stars and moons.

The Catholic Church is friendly to the idea of evolution - although it is not specifically endorsed, it is considered an open possibility (under God's guidance of course). For more information, see:
http://www.catholic.com/library/Adam_Eve_and_Evolution.asp

"Concerning biological evolution, the Church does not have an official position on whether various life forms developed over the course of time. However, it says that, if they did develop, then they did so under the impetus and guidance of God, and their ultimate creation must be ascribed to him.

Concerning human evolution, the Church has a more definite teaching. It allows for the possibility that man’s body developed from previous biological forms, under God’s guidance, but it insists on the special creation of his soul. Pope Pius XII declared that "the teaching authority of the Church does not forbid that, in conformity with the present state of human sciences and sacred theology, research and discussions . . . take place with regard to the doctrine of evolution, in as far as it inquires into the origin of the human body as coming from pre-existent and living matter—[but] the Catholic faith obliges us to hold that souls are immediately created by God" (Pius XII, Humani Generis 36). So whether the human body was specially created or developed, we are required to hold as a matter of Catholic faith that the human soul is specially created; it did not evolve, and it is not inherited from our parents, as our bodies are.
