Someone gave me some fresh corn-on-the-cob. It's really great and I would like to save it before it goes bad. I prefer my corn on the cob so can I freeze it.....and how?

Yes. Blanch the corn, then immediately remove it from the water. Drain it very well, then when it cools stick it in freezer bags and freeze. When you want to use it from the freezer, get your water boiling then drop the corn in it but it is VERY important that you do NOT thaw the corn before you cook it, as that will ruin it.

On the cob is best eaten fresh. You wont get the same flavor if you freeze it with the cob.

The sugars in corn start turning to starch as soon as it is picked. In order to preserve the sweetness, you have to freeze it as soon as possible.

Shuck and trim off anything you don't want to eat. Blanch the corn for 5 minutes and then put it in cool water. Cut the corn off of the cob and freeze the corn without cobs in bags. Include the 'milk' that you get when you cut it off. There are tools you can get that make cutting a lot of corn off of the cob easier.

Most people do not know what sweet corn tastes like since it takes days to get it from the field to their table and most of the sugars have turned to starch by then.

Yes you can freeze it while on the ears. But it is better if you remove it. My dad used to freeze it on the cob, but it tended to get soggy when he would cook it later.
He'd simply par-boil it for about a minute. Put it in iced water to stop the cooking process. Then put the cobs into ziploc bags.

Take off the husks, trim the ends, put the cobs in freezer bags and freeze them. It won't be quite like fresh, but they'll still taste good.

Take the husks off. You have to blanch it before you can freeze it, which means having it in boiling water for just a few minutes. Then immerse it in cold water to stop the cooking process. Put in heavy bags to freeze. Tastes great in the middle of winter!
