Let me explain why I'm against the Illegals. My sisters daughter died when she was 21, 8 years ago from a car accident. A year ago my sister recieves from SS a letter to her daughter about how much she was eligible to collect if she became disabled ( I dont remember what you call the letter but im sure yall have recieved one at some time) Now this letter for was dated for 2004. There was no way her daughter could have worked or paid in for that year since she was dead. After calling the SS office my sister found that someone had stolen her identy. The woman was using her ss number along with her name in california. The lady was deported but not before serving six months in jail and a fine. She claimed the ssn was gotten from the ss website where they put them after you die. My sister was insulted and so was I. I know I will be bashed for this. So be it. This is the reason I cant stand the illegals. Now how would you feel and be really honest.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I guess if you steal a dead persons identity u wont get caught as easy.

I think that is terrible but anyone can take a persons identity unfortunately. My sister gave up her 7 kids to the father and got my kids Social security numbers and claimed my kids without my permission.I know it's not similar to your nieces death. It's just wrong to do things behind a persons back.We no longer speak and i feel like she should do time but she just had another baby.I don't think you will be bashed for that and i understand how you feel. That is scary my mother died and that makes me think you never know who could be claiming to be a loved one.My heart goes out to your sister and you.I'm glad you found out that may have gone on for many many years.I wouldn't hate illegals because not all of them do that. That was just a really sick rotten apple of the bunch. She's lucky to have just done 6 months if that was me id probably want her to do more time.I would have to look her in the face and find a way to let that lady know it wasn't just a claiming numbers but about a loved one.

To be honest, in this case I am pretty ambivalent. If I ever had to cut and run / get 'lost' / disappear / whatever you want to call it, I've read that one of the first things to do is to change identities, and assuming the identity of someone who has recently died and is about your same age is the way to do it. Once you have that ssn, getting all other needed paperwork is easy. I don't think whomever stole your niece's identity did so in order to personally affront your family. Sometimes people have to do what they have to do. If I were living poor in Mexico and saw what I could do and achieve in the USA, you know I'd be here in the blink of an eye. That's the way things go sometimes. Sorry about your family's loss but I don't think you should take this personally or as an insult.

Its not the illegal that you can blame, its the person who was responsible for your ss number. Sorry for the little girl. The thing is a lot of people couldve gotten hold of your ss number especially if she went through autopsy, etc. I handled a lot of ss numbers when I used to work in my profession but not once did I look at those numbers as a chance to make money. Thats the big difference between me and the person who sold your little girls ss number to the so called illegal. You will hate and hate and hate and she will still be dead. She is happy and you're the only one suffering, sorry for your loss.

Or How would I feel. Well First of all there are a lot of kids that come on this web site so I will try very hard not to loose it. First of all, I would like to say sorry about your niece. It is stuff like this that our government does not seem to see. All they seem is for the Illegals. I am so fed up with stuff like this. especially when my husband and I both got laid off around the same time and still can not find a good paying job. We got denied any help. The only help that we did receive was from one organization to pay for my heat, but I would have to pay them back 40%. 40% that is al to when you have no money. But again that these ILLEGALS get away with it yet again.

I would be very angry. I would assume this is presently happening a lot due to the great number of illegal aliens from all over the world. These desperate illegals are willing to pay big money for the opportunity to work, and I'm sure there are corrupt government employees engaged in selling SS numbers. These criminals should be severely punished.

my own husbands SSN was stolen by a man who later died in Texas. this caused his SSN to place my husband as being dead for 6 years. he of course isn't dea , but the effects caused us problems. people also need to know that ancestry.com have SSN numbers of those who pass way. if people claim they are not dead and produce a fake birth certificate to prove a lie that is also bad. my poor hubby finally protected his SSN by placing a protection on his credit report. now they have certain info that my husband can only answer. so contact the 3 main credit company's to protect yourself as well and tell you friends the same. on the other hand the funny part. a friend got her social taken and the person caused her to have great credit, after she found out she placed the protection on her credit to stop the girl from further actions. in case she messes up the credit.

I feel for you and your family....You are a prime example of what is happening to millions of Americans whose ID's are stolen.

I think every illegal in this country should be deported. I don't care what they leave behind, it was a risk they took when they came. I think then, they can apply to return ONLY

If they have not stolen anyone's ID

If they make restitution for medical, social service and all other costs they incurred.

If they repay the earned income tax credit refunds they wrongfully received

If they have a clean medical screening

If they have not committed a felony

AND, they go to the back of the line behind all those they displaced.

I hope that covered MOST of it....

I'm not one bit surprised at your story. This is common practice among illlegal immigrants. The sad thing is that most Americans have no idea that this goes on. No doubt the person that stole your sister's ssn was receiving public assistance. That's what it's all about. That's one of the main reasons they come to this country.

The premature death of anyone is a terrible event. The "stealing" of SSN is a criminal act. It would be absolutely horrific if these two events were associated but the first event does not make the second any more serious. Actually, you could argue that the use of live people's SSN would be a more serious crime.

I am sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry for your family's exploitation. This is an all to common occurrence that is used by many. Not just the illegals. Yours just by chance happened to be. I would think they would use more security on any website that has SS#'s whether the folks are passed or not.
