Yes. The only people that need a lot of water are marathon runners and other atheletes who are working out that hard. The average person needs 6-8 cups of water a day. This is some information I found at USA Weekend

Too much water
The expert: Arthur Siegel, M.D., an assistant clinical professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and an expert in "water intoxication." Siegel also is director of internal medicine at Harvard's McLean Hospital in Belmont, Mass.

"People participating in endurance events such as marathons have been programmed to 'drink, drink, drink!' That's fine for high-performance athletes because they're losing tremendous amounts of fluid through sweat. But those who are slower and less experienced don't need so much water. Drinking too much water too quickly -- say, more than a liter per hour for more than four hours -- can cause a condition called hyponatremia, or water intoxication. The water overload causes cells in the body, including the brain, to swell like sponges. This is a problem for the brain, where there is no room to expand, and that causes headaches, nausea, vomiting and delirium. This can lead to a sudden collapse with a seizure, then unconsciousness and a coma -- and it can be fatal. Runners have died or been in comas from water intoxication."

If so I would be the one to prove that, I drink between 2 and 5 gallons of water daily just because it is the best when you are thirsty. I have read in magazines that you can if you drink like five gallons as fast as possible but I wouldn't recommend trying you might drown instead of getting drunk on water.

Overdoing it with water can deprive you of essential minerals and vitamins which will put your health at risk. People should drink no less than 6 eight ounce glasses of water a day. The usual is 8 eight ounce glasses of water a day.

yes, you can. it is called water poisoning! most people don't drink enough, though, and are often dehydrated, so you probably don't need to worry, but standard minimums are 6-8 eight ounces glasses a day, and more when you are exercising, working in the heat, etcetra.

You'd have to drink an awful lot for it to hurt you in anyway. I drink anywhere from 8-12 glasses every day... all year round.

YES!!!! If you drink too much water it triggers your cells to shed all their sodium and you go into shock.

While this is a TON of water, water poisening can and does happen.
