Yes I am an organ donor. Yes I plan on donating my body to science. My family is already aware of my wishes. I have donated my hair to locks of love 3 times now, as has my daughter. I also am a recipient of donor bones - 2 of my disks in my neck were deteriorating badly due to an accident, and I had a choice of using my own hip bone to sculpt new disks or accept donor bones. As I am a firm believer in it (as were my parents who wanted to donate but could not as one had Alzheimer's and the other cancer), I accepted the 'cadaver bones' as the surgeon referred to them. It is fantastic to be pain free again, and I am so very grateful to the generous and caring person who selflessly gave of him or herself so that I could have a better life. It should at least be considered - you could be saving many lives and/or making life bearable again if you donated. (and if my body can help solve a mystery in some way, great! after all, I will be done with it - it is just a taxi for my inner spirit on its way to another place anyway!) they cremate the remains after use and give it back to the family if they want the ashes to scatter or whatever afterwards, so it is cool by them as well. (and to "donate" means to freely give - you should not be compensated for it, the same as if you donated clothing or furniture or other items to charity. Are you doing it to gain something, or are you doing it so that someone else can get use from it?) I did not pay for my disks either.

I am not an organ donor for 2 reasons. One I believe that my body should be kept as whole as possible because it is a representation of your living self. Two I feel that transplants interfere with the natural order of death as just a way to delay the inevitable.

Just so you know that all the organs you donate, you donate for free. Then they are sold for hundreds of dollars and none of the profit goes back to your trust or your family. The same with your blood when you donate it.

I however do donate blood because it is a naturally renewable body fluid which is replaced by your body daily so you can never die without blood in your body.

Don't hate me for it. It is just my belief. Just as I say screw funeral homes and autopsies just dig a hole and throw me in it.

I haven't decided if my body is being donated yet. But I am an organ donor. I donate blood regularly, and I've so far donated 13 inches of my hair to a girl with leukemia. Blessed be.

I am an organ donor...if someone else can use something I won't need anymore, then God bless them. I have a living will that outlines how long I should remain on life support and in what instances I'd want a DNR order issued.

As for science-hell no. God doesn't care about my physical being but it's our belief that we are buried--ashes to ashes, dust to dust....that whole verse. I'm not particularly obedient to my religion but I've always felt 'wrong' about donating my body to science.

I want to be an organ donor. I signed my card when I turned 18. I don't want my body donated, though.

Although that is the ultimate gift to give your organs to someone else upon your death so as to help some one live, I guess I am to much of a conspiricy theroist. I think that if I had an accident or something happen to me to put me in the hospital and they found out I was a donar, Some real rich person or high power Govt person would wind up with my organs wheather I am ready to go or not.

I will donate all of my organs, if they are usable, then I will not be buried or cremated, but rather I will have my body frozen solid in liquid nitrogen then shattered. that is a new process that turns your body into a dry powder that is actually good for the soil, instead of useless ashes or an embalmed body that will never rot away and replenish the soil.
