According to the bible, in Genesis 26, “On the sixth day God made man....”
On the seventh day he rested.
After that was the Garden of Eden, then God made Adam and Eve.
So how come everyone thinks Adam and Eve were the first People?

The Genesis 1 account of creating man its in following the order in which things were created. The Genesis 2 account is a detailed account of the creation of man. Its like me describing my events of the day, I got up, got a shower, had breakfast and then I went to work. For breakfast I had bacon and eggs....

See now I give a detailed account of my breakfast, this doesnt mean that I had breakfast twice or that it happened after work. Understand?

try reading it again from the beginning... In chapter 1 the 7 day creation is just merely stated ... when you get to chapter 2 he back tracks just a hair so he can give more detail about his creations. Read it carefully the key is in vs 3,4,5 of chapter 2... hope this helps

We're nitpicking with metaphor and mythology; it's all symbolic and to concentrate on the literalness is like reading 'Animal Farm' and then trying to go out and find talking animals.
