Many because they don't know where to turn to learn about God. For others, they may know some things & that is all they feel they need to know. Having a personal relationship w/God can seem so far out of reach that they don't try & have faith, knowledge or understanding of his word.

Humans exist in the categorical - we are confined by space and time. We get our information on the world via our five senses and our power to think within what we can understand. God, on the other hand, exists beyond this reality in the transcendental. Time, space, the three dimensions... none of these constrain God. It's very hard for us to comprehend things in this state because we do not exist in it.

Or think of it this way - how do explain the color red to a person born blind? Or the sound of a car horn to a person born deaf?

Because it is a time intensive task to know God. It takes everything that you have to really know God the Father. It takes reading and studying the bible. It takes time to come up along others and truly show the love of God.

It takes going to church. To listen to those who have been in the walk longer. It takes actual time away from those other activities. It is in prayer.

Because they either spend their time thinking that the beliefs and concepts are Truth (and therefore don't go for a direct experience of God) -or- because they get turned off by the ego images of god in most religions and think that this is the real god - or- they don't realize that Unconditional Love can be experienced. Better, we like our separateness and inviduality and, deep down, we think the experience of God takes this away and so we bury it and get amnesia.
