Simple difference really. Zeus was the head god of a pantheon of other gods who were either siblings or his offspring. This means that Greeks (and Romans) were polytheistic (many gods). Christianity on the other hand is monotheistic (one god). Christ plays the role of god, holy spirit, and son of god (holy trinity) while some may argue that this is also polytheism, it's not since god and the trinity are the exact same thing. BTW, this has nothing to do with dogmas as many others have suggested. Zeus is god in every sense of the word since he (and all other Greek and Roman gods) were worshiped actively up until the fall of the Roman empire in the east (Constantinople didn't fall until 1453). In fact, when emperor Constantine declared Christianity to be the true religion of Rome after the battle of the Milvian bridge, he declared that Christ's birthday was the same as the Pagan holiday of the Saturnalia. So really, every time you decorate your xmas tree and unwrap your presents on xmas morning, you are celebrating a traditon that is far older that the time of Christ, you're celebrating the birth of Saturn...lol. Hope this clears things up.

All the gods of Greek mythology had flaws, they were more "human" that way. The God of the Bible is perfect, in all ways. The Greek gods were made up mythology, there was and is no evidence as to their existence. There is plenty of evidence for God, if one is truly willing to see. Nobody worships the Greek gods anymore, they have faded into the past along with the other ancient gods, the God of the Bible is still active and alive and will be for eternity.

yeah but zeus had kids and stuff like that. plus, it wasnt like zeus was the only god to his believers. he was just the god of gods. and i dont think the greeks and romans believed zeus created man.

but other than that, yeah, i guess u could say they're the same!!! lol

-wow apparently other people dont understand the question. u cannot PROVE WITHOUT A REASONABLE DOUBT that either god does or doesnt exist. its not a matter of one being true and one being false. thats how christians (myself included) see it. people who believed in zeus obviously thought he was real, just like we (christians) believe god is real. point is: everybody thinks there religion (or lack thereof) is right. otherwise u wouldnt believe in it.

This is what I've heard: Zeus is a false god (notice - small "g") and God is the one true and living God (notice - big "G").

I happen to subscribe to this weird idea that God reveals himself in different ways to different people, but that one gets the big "NO" from most folks.

When monotheists imagine their God, influence by renaissance art perhaps, the image really is more that of Zeus ... but their is a great difference in the characters ascribed to the gods --- Zeus is a sovereign, rather than a despot! One imagines Him in human terms of the highest, loftiest greatness --- because (duh!) we are humans and really cannot imagine a great Being "totally other" than human in qualities. We haven't any words for such a thing, other thanempty abstractions such as " a god so powerful that he can lift the immovable object he just created..." :)
Zeus = Deus , linguistically, but I think we can see ourselves in him image a lot more easily, because we have within us the same "lofty, divine aspirations" to reach, not for infinity, but for the highest we can imagine ourselves able to attain --- and that is proven by the greatest among us, whose lives hint at the great potention within every human being. I can love and honor Zeus without having to deny Him is celestian family and great companions, or without denying that human beings might reach as high as starry Olympus as well!
