And a dealer, as well. Yet his family was the only one spared in the Great Flood.

So maybe it's not so bad being an alcoholic, after all?

The Bible does not prohibit drinking. Jesus drank wine. Hell, he even turned water into wine. Christians who shun alcohol do their lord a disservice.

Consumption of alcohol is not a sin, nor was it ever. Jesus' first miracle was to turn water into wine. Paul told Timothy to drink a little wine for his illness. The problem is drunkenness-that has always been a sin.It is not an illness-it is a habit.
Noah was not a drunkard. He did get drunk at least once, maybe more. There is nothing wrong with a drink on a regular basis. Most conservative Christians stay away from alcohol; because people may accuse them or their church of hypocrisy.

Yes, Noah did drink. It doesn't mean Noah was perfect. He made the wrong choices also. Also, that was after the flood, not before. When you drink, you're mind isn't clear and you make dumb choices. A lot of people act like a fool, some get into fights, some will say stupid stuff and some will lose their virginity or sleep with someone that isn't their spouse. And that is a sin. It is a sin to be at the state that you're mind isn't clear that you can't make the right choices. How can you say no to the Devil when your mind isn't straight?

Yes alcholism is a sin. Moderation is what people need to do all things in. God was not happy with Noah when he got drunk.

1corinthians 6:11-13 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
without Mark 4:11, Col 4:5, 1st Tim 3:7

13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
judgeth Eccl 12:14, Heb 13:4

God will deal with those who drink to get drunk.

Dude... Your logic is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY off... the Bible never said that Noah didn't sin... the Bible never claims that Noah's alcoholism wasn't a sin...

Even if it did God had his own reasons for sparing Noah and his family... he doesn't need any one's approval and he doesn't need to explain it to anyone first...

maybe everyone else was a worse sinner than Noah and God pick him and his family because he didn't have any other choice...

maybe God picked Noah and his family because Noah was the only one who would obey God to build a boat... There are a thousand possiblities...

Besides... Noah got drunk AFTER the flood... If you had actually read the Bible you might have known that...

Are you looking for a way to rationalize drinking? Doing anything to excess is not good. God still loved Noah. God loves everyone, not just the ones who walk the straight and narrow. Just because Noah was spared doesn't mean it's okay to be an alcoholic.

I think the term "alcoholism" is a loose term and simply consuming a glass of beer cannot make someone "alcoholic". For that matter, alcohol is mostly ethyl alcohol (C2H5OH) which is present in many other forms of food (carbohydrates). Am I an alcoholic if I eat rice?

It is like "overspeeding". In an auto, 100 mph is overspeeding. At 65 mph it is normal. In a plane 500 mph is normal speeding! See, context determines what is overspeeding. Same goes for alcoholism. Drinking a glass of wine is even blessed by Bible!

There is no sin; noah and the ark are metaphorical. Alcoholism only prevents you from living this life to the fullest; I know many alcoholics and their life before recovery was hell.

people in my church say its up to the individual, to decide whether
your an alcoholic, some can have a few some go on with it to reach oblivian and blackout, theres a spirit in the bottle but the ism is in me, gods spirit is holy and pure,if thats a lie from satan about noah he was spared cause he was the only righteous one,
some great kings and characters in the bible comitted evil deeds
but they begged god for his forgiveness and turned from there evil ways and continued on and there lives were blessed with his great richs and power by continual repentance and learning that gods ways are best and he knows whats best for us like a loving parent but we rebel and grow up not trusting in authority if we grew up in an alcoholic home for example

From Paul's writing to the Corinthians-"All things are legal for me under the law, but not all things are profitable. Therefore, do that which is profitable so you will not be stumbling block to unbelievers and cause they to turn away from the truth." I don't think that drinking is necessarily wrong, but unfortunately, many unbelievers would be surprised to see a strong Christian drinking and this would allow them to use the "all Christians are hypocrites excuse". Therefore, I believe that since it is a perceived wrong in the eye's of most non-believes, Christians need to be careful in this area.

A drink is not a sin. Niether is being drunk. What needs to be understood is the following.

If you become drunk then there is the open door so to say that will lead you into temptation and sin. So when you are not drunk it allows for you to keep your wits and helps you make proper decisions that will not lead you into sin.

So in closing - Being Drunk Can Lead You Into Temptation and Sin.
