I have gone out with 2 different guys lately that have asked me
out for a second date, and then fallen off the planet. POOF.
Disappeared. No email, no explanation, nothing. I even emailed
them both and said, " Just tell me if you're not that into me, I get
it." and neither of them even bothered to answer me. What's up
with that? Can't they even be polite about it? Or do they think that
falling off the planet is more polite than closure?

Don't worry about being "needy" or "clingy". You are being polite and kind. Although the email that you sent saying "just tell me if you're not that into me" is unnecessary. If the guy does not respond after the thank you email, then it is time to move on. Try to be more confident...you shouldn't feel that it is your fault as to why they did not call or email back.

They probably asked you out for a second date because they wanted to attempt being a gentlemen.But if they were sinceer about that they would probably contact your first.Guys have the misconseption that if we do not act A.S.A.P we will never have an oppertunity again.So they probably just wanted sex on a first date or just were'nt into you.But don't worry not all guys are pigs the majority true but not all.

personally, if a woman e mailed me after a date and said thanks,I would be even more inclined to go out again with them because they just showed themselves as being caring and sensitive. Works for me and if I told a woman that I wanted to go out again, they could bet that they would be hearing from me. Dropping off the planet is an asshole of a thing to do.

That's not limited to relationships or to guys. Tons of times people won't respond, especially if it's to say something unpleasant. It doesn't matter if you give them a free out; it's still easier to say nothing. Don't worry about it. If someone's worth your time, they'll respond.
