During basic training, the guys in my outfit were constantly fed beans, beans and more beans (musical fruit). then the Sargeant would take us out on patrol and train us for combat.
We would low crawl and go from tree to tree trying to sneak up on the enemy.
How the hell is a contingent of 5,000 ground troops going to sneak up on the enemy when they have just had a plate of beans?
I thought Beethovan had joined my outfit...!
Do you have a story of how ridiculous the military can be, to share with the folks on yahoo answers, to help me prove my point????

But...there's no comparing what you do in basic to what goes on in combat. What does eating some beans in basic have to do with sneaking up on enemies in the field? Everyone has ridiculous boot stories. Drill Sargeants, Drill Instructors, they like messing with the recruits...that has nothing to do with the leadership of our military.

Contrary to a lot of what people believe, the military is being run by highly educated and devoted Americans. We have problems and will never be perfect (what is perfection anyways?), but we are the best and strongest military in the world. So, no, the military is not being run by people that are "ridiculous." Its really quite the opposite.

Hmmm...When did you go through basic? I am pretty sure they are feeding more than just beans to recruits.
I am a Marine Wife. Some things can pretty ridiculous, but hey...Nothing comes easy.

i don't no where you took basic and ait at but we ate pretty good even in the field i am sure we ate a lot of c rations and cold meals but we never was hungry
