Tithing, which is an O.T. term, should be the minimum a believer gives. You might consider tithing (at least 10%) to your Church, and giving above the tithe to other ministries. I cannot emphasize enough that you begin tithing early in life. Its fun to watch how God gives back many times more than you give. Don't wait until you think you can afford to tithe - you can't afford not to tithe.

I believe giving should be a percentage of gross, not net. Also, it should be enjoyable. If one gives grudgingly, might be best not to tithe until attitudes change. God owns it all, right? Enjoy giving some back for all He has done for you.

Read Malachi 3:10 in your Bible. This verse is so needed right now. And yes I do tithe even though I dont have a job. I trully believe that if were giving to God our tithes, thats like a percent where you dont have to worry about materialistic things. It is like you forget about those fancy stuff and remember to give Him in order to reach out to other people who are in need of help and answers. Tithes are very good, No matter if its a million dollars or a penny, just as long as it came from your heart and with a cheerful heart as well.

The term "tithe" means different things to different people, so you need to define your terms.

I take "tithe" to mean "give money regularly to the local church and other charities." The answer is, yes, I tithe.

Some people believe it means that you're required to give 10% to the local church. That leads to stupid stuff like whether it's 10% net or gross. That smacks of legalism so I don't buy into it.

I personally believe that what you give and how you give is strictly between you and God. If you want to tithe and you have no idea what to give, 10% is a good rule of thumb, but you need to be in prayer about it to get an idea of what you really should be giving.

No, I'm up to about 5%, which I guess means I'm not at the tithing level. However, if you count all the service I also do for my church in the form of head ushering, helping out with special events, contributing to other areas of giving such as missions and deacon's fund, maybe I'm tithing after all. Eagle.

I give a little better then ten percent to charity and my church. As an independent woman I find my purse always in the open position. Tithing usual refers to what one gives to the church. Great idea, charity should begin at home, I care for my mother and my sisters as well as my children and a husband, yes I carry all of these people financially.

Only fools believe that B.S. about titheing 10% gets you a front row seat on the spaceship to heaven, but I'm sure their are alot of fools that do it.

There is an old saying "a fool and his money are soon parted"

I do not even attend church, so I certainly do not tithe. If 100 people attend a church, and each earns $30,000 per year, the church will get $300,000...so the congregation will wear Timex watches and drive Ford cars, but the preacher will wear a Rolex covered with diamonds and drive a Ferarri. I cannot afford to attend church, even if I wished to do so, for some obscure reason. Incidentally, I am wearing a $26,100 Piaget "Polo" watch sans diamonds. They are too gaudy, but peasants love them.

No - I know many people who tithe as part of the 'god will give me great rewards either in this life or the next' dynamic. All part of the "whats in it for me", the glorification of the self where it 'does good' to get a reward.

I try hard to tithe every paycheck that I get. It's God's Law.
