You are not supposed, because your phone line is busy, unless you have a double call receive and send line.

i don't think you can because i tried it and it was busy. if you don't dial and you pick up two phones from the same line, you can talk to yourself.
once, my mom and i answered the phone at the same time and we were talking to eachother and it was hilarious!
