This could happen if it were unbiased, clear, and down to earth.

Name: The Bible

I would like to direct this movie.

First of all, we're going to do a lot of greenscreen with awesome CGI. The first problem that I see arising is in the casting. We'll start with Genesis, and I obviously want to cast Connery as god, but the question is 'will he do it?' I couldn't say. How about Wallace Shawn? It's almost certain that he's available, but is that going to offend people? Adam? Orlando Bloom? How about someone more appropriate, like Naveen Andrews? Is that going to turn Americans off? Can we find enough middle-eastern actors to fill these roles? Say we go with an off-screen god, is it too played out to get James Earl Jones to do the voice? Can we CG Stanley Tucci's head onto a snake for the serpent? Will anyone notice if we use left-over footage from The Perfect Storm for the flood? Man, and this is only the first few pages.

No wonder this hasn't been attempted before.

A movie consisting of the entire Bible? no. Way too long, even if summarized and it were to be very generic. There are some parts of the Bible that should be made into a movie. Like the book Judges. A very gory, violent, warfare book which would make a pretty interesting movie.

Well, I personally believe the bible is living and active and interpriated in different ways. I would probably watch the movie, but not believe it as the bible. I can't imagine someone doing that though, it just wouldn't work out. Look at everything that happened over the Passion of the Christ and/or the Left Behind series. They would never be able to pull it off in the right way.

No, I wouldn't. It's a boring book, I don't think a movie can make it interesting no matter what kind of special effects you've got going on. Even when I was Christian, I didn't watch bible movies or television. I found most Christian rock incredibly boring.

funny for me to answer this question as i have no religious training in any religion nor do i have an interest in religion, but you pose a very interesting question. if the bible is such an important
document, why have they who ever they is. not made a movie of it. or at least a TV show. i am sure it would be a real money maker. isn't that what Christianity is all about ,making money tax free?

It would be pretty tough to turn the entire Bible into a movie. First of all that would be one *long* movie. Second, there are lots of parts of the Bible that are not narrative. Imagine turning the Psalms into a movie.

I think I would start but end up just gving up because it would be so incredibly long! I can't get through the whole Bible reading it at one time I don't think I could do it if it was in movie form either but I would try!
Oh and I am a christian

That would be a fricking long movie. Would you really want to sit through leviticus?
They have made the more exciting and pivotal moments of it into a movie. The 10 commandments, and all those movies about Christ.
So, go ahead and try to make one 50 hour movie.

If God would grant me the time, I would watch every minute of it over and over. And there have been several movies. The Greatest Story ever Told, Jesus of Nazareth, The Passion of Christ ( I think the best version), Samson and Delilah, and probably several more that I cannot recall, and yes I am a devout Christian.

Maybe not one move but how about several.

For starters - The Bible - Directed by John Huston - Genesis and the old testament - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060164/fullcredits

Then The Ten Commandments - you know - the one with Charlton Heston. One of the greatest movies - and I'm not even Christian. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049833/

then you get the whole plethora of New Testament\Jesus movies already mentioned
