2 days ago my cat starting sneezing. He hasn't eaten very much and has discharge from his nose. He is very sleepy and doesn't respond to much and that is very unlike him. Other than see a vet (which is happening on Thursday), is there anything I can do for him now to make him feel more comfortable? Thanks!

I can't get my cat into the vet until Thursday because I live in a very small town and there is one vet servicing all the people who live here. Please keep that in mind before accusing me of being cruel and "making him wait one more day" just because. Actually thinking before you speak is appreciated.

Sounds like a upper respiratory infection. Make sure he is eating something, drinking, and wait to see the vet. If he has trouble breathing, take him into the bathroom and runa HOT shower. The steam will frequently help him. Do not give any human medications.
To keep him hydrated, try canned tuna or baby food meat in a jar.

Why wait until Thursday? Take the baby kitty tomorrow! Other than that there isn't anything you can do until he gets meds to help his symptoms. If I were you I would help him feel more comfortable by not making him suffer another day until Thursday. What if he needs antibiotics and the sickness gets worse? You don't want him to suffer longer.

There are things that cats and dogs get in their nose and ears from outside. I am sorry I cannot remember the name of those things. But that is what it sounds like to me unless it is mites.Do NOT give your pet benedryl like the person that answered this before me said to do. Never give your animal medicines like you or I would take. For now check out your cats nose, and maybe it has something up inside. I do not know what else to tell you. I am sure everything will be fine. I am glad that there are other's out there that loves their pets like I love my cat....Good Luck..God Bless

Find another vet that is out of town, the cat needs to see an emergency vet clinic asap. He could have a fever wich can be fatal if untreated immediatly.

You should not give you cat any over the counter meds unless prescribed by your vet. Sounds like you cat has an upper respiratoy infection and only antibiotics will help it.

You need to get him to the vet fast. He may have cat flu which is fatal.

Never give a cat any medication that is for humans. It may be toxic to the cat, and you will not know the dosage anyway.

Eating will help him to keep his strength up. Try giving him some tuna from a can, complete with tuna water/juice or shredded boiled chicken plus some of the broth from boiling.

You can give your cat half a benedryl pill, either in a treat or ground up in wet food, to relieve the symptoms.

you should give him lots of love. Make him/her welcome in the family. follow the doctors rules and always say its going to be OK and i love you! That should make them comfortable. And if it wants to be alone, let it be and don't worry!
