Agreed - you make the retreat sound like more fun. If you are dealing with stress from parents divorcing, you need fun.
List all of this on a sheet of paper. Pro on one side, Con on the other, camp on top half of page, retreat on bottom half of page. Think about which one has a stronger pull for you. Also ask - 10 years from now, will it matter more to you that you were at camp or at the retreat?
I know you didn't ask, but.... Good luck, divorce is rough. I hope they don't try to stick you in the middle, but if they do, please talk calmly with each of them, tell them you love them and you are a part of each of them, and you don't want to be stuck in the middle. Maybe if they think about it from your point of view, it will be a little easier for you.

Sounds like you just want someone to tell you to do what you already know what you are going to do. You have done a good job of listing out the pros and cons. Except that Mr Fulk should be under band camp, not Long's Retreat. Go ahead and do what you already decided to do, and miss the 2 weeks of games to march in.

Well, I think you should go to Band Camp, you'll get to practice a lot and focus on getting better at it. You say you need some time off well here's your chance. Do it! It's good to get away sometimes.
Two years ago I was in a similar situation. I always wanted to go to Disney World as part of the WDW College Program (an internship where you get to work at the parks) but I was a little scared and not sure if I should go because that meant being away from my family for 5 months. But since I needed a break from college I said "What the heck! I'm going to do it!' And I did. It was a great experience for me. When I missed my family I'd called them and I felt better. I don't regret the decision I made.
So...do what you gotta do! :-) But whatever you do, follow your heart...
Good luck!

This is the classic question presented to kids 5 years old. A teacher sets several kids in a room and gives each one of them 3 cookies and a glass of milk. The last thing she tells them is that if they can wait until she gets back they can each have more cookies but if they eat these now, this is all they will get.
What do you want? Do you want the practice to do a better job at band or do you want more time with your family away from the problems life is bringing. Its instant gratification vs. long term benefit to your talents.
If you can contribute to the betterment of your family during this vacation, maybe you should be there. It just depends on what's more important to you and not for total strangers to decide for you.

i'd go with the band camp.often there is a cost for the benefit of growth. you will be making big sacrifices at band camp but i think the gains will outweigh the pains in the long run.

This question is really about what you want. You don't make the band camp sound too good, which should answer your question, but I doubt that either one would be a terrible choice.
