Get your daily recommendation of water - 8 x 8 oz glasses.

Decrease your caloric intake by 500 calories a day...and aim to burn 500 calories per day by exercise. This will help you lose 2 lbs a week (the most that you should safely lose in a weeks' time).

Aim for 3-5 days of cardio exercise - 30 min minimum with 3 resistance (weight) workouts per week. This way, you will burn fat and build lean muscle.

I use www.selfdietclub.com as it's free to Self subscribers - you put in your weight and your goal weight and they customize how many calories you should have per day and then you can put in what you eat. It figures out the percent of your calories that are coming from protein, carbs and fat.

So far, I've lost almost 40 lbs since March. I cut out all soda and most sweets, although I still indulge every now and then.

I know there are other things that will help, but that is what I've done so far. There is enough time to lose the weight if you are committed to it.

Edit - I try to eat every 2-3 hours. I eat a lot of fresh fruit and low fat/nonfat dairy products. I eat carbs in moderation.

However, I would say that you really don't NEED to lose the weight now that you've posted your height. These are the weight suggestions for your height - 5'02" (small frame) 104-112 (medium frame) 109-122 (large frame) 117-134. Chances are, if you lost that weight, you'd look emaciated. Go to the gym for atleast 3x a week, atleast and hour each time, and eat healthy. Don't skip meals b/c that puts your body in 'fast mode' and you won't really lose anything like that. All of these magazines and whatever have good tips on what to eat or fun ways to get active so you should take a look.

Get your heart rate up for at least 20 minutes everyday. Make sure you eat a lot of small balanced meals throughout the day, none late at night.

Unless you're very large to start out with (> 250), this is too much. You might however be able to lose close to 20 lbs with a trainer. There's no way you can lose that much on your own that fast unless you are very compulsive.
