I only put him in his crate for bed time because he has a tendency to wander around the house and picks things up to chew. He doesn't do many accidents, it's just usually when he has been left alone. This seems weird but he seems almost reluctant to do #2 in the yard.

You don't say how old your puppy is, but it's a good bet that he is missing his mommy and now you are his surrogate mom. For some pups it helps if you put a small battery powered alarm clock, (please no electric he will chew the cord and electocute himself!), wrapped in a baby blanket or towel... it will sound like a beating heart to him.. also what the other person answered is a good idea, cover his crate at night. As far as the training goes you have to be patient he will learn to let you know when he has to go... you must be consistant and dogs need routine. Take him out as soon as you are up and at the same times each day... try to watch him and judge when he goes most frequently and then take him out then. As for whining and barking, check out your local library for books on training. The reward system works best and I don't believe in collars that shock and all that but sometimes it is trial and error. Good luck.

He's either upset and lonely or just wanting attention. I'm not sure you can train a dog not to whine or bark since it's natural for them to do it. Just try ignoring him at night, and eventually he'll stop. Don't go see him every time he whines because that is what he wants, and he'll never learn that way. Also, some dogs just whine more than others. Dogs can be weird and mysterious.

Dogs are the most unique of pets, unlike cats they need more attention and interaction with their owners. Dogs are like 3 years olds, they are very attached to their owner. Why is your dog in a crate, for peeing on the floor? Maybe instead of a stuffy crate he should be able to roam freely, or sleep with you, or be outside in a kennel (or on a leesh). Dogs need their space to stretch and to use the... bathroom. Would you like to sleep where you go to the bathroom, of course not. Some people may not realize this but some dogs have claustrophobia!!! Try new methods of training and new sleeping arrangements. ( also if you need an better answer a bigger question is better)

He is whining for attention. He wants to be a part of things. If you really want to train him to stop then try spraying him with water if he does or just ignore him until he realizes no one is listening. Also go to petsmart and look in the collar aisle and there is a collar that sprays orange scent that only the dogs i think can smell everytime they bark. Also ask a person who works there and inform them about your problem.

Tip one:
New puppys sometimes miss thier moms or thier mom's heart beat. To help with this get a old style wind up clock that tics loud. Wind it up and put it in with them. It sounds wierd but does work most of the time.
Tip two:
Get some puppy pads.Place them where the puppy goes. Take the used pad and move it towards the door, and then outside. The puppy will get the idea.

Most of the time, your puppy just want to get your attention. Go and check on him without him to see you if you are worried. Ignore him if you know he is physically ok. Take him out for a walk to do his business before bed, maybe you have to try to take him out a few times to let him to do a pee or poo before bed. Praise him when he does on command. Or you can get some pet nappy which you can put it next to his bed just in case some unexpected accidents happen. Generally, dogs hate to soil their beds. Puppy will learn soon and it will take some time to train the puppy. Be patient and consistent.

I cover my dog's crate after I put her in for the night. She sleeps through the night and is ready to go to the bathroom as soon as I let her out in the morning.

i will inform you from experience that no longer all canines/domestic canines respond properly to being hit with a hand. I occassionally smack(no longer complicated) my domestic dog on his head - interior the commencing up he could merely lash out yet now I dont could use it yet as quickly as I do, he's conscious of howdy. this is an rather organic reaction. And extra so in obdurate, clever breeds. first of all, coach your domestic dog who's boss. you may teach your domestic dog chew inhibition and a domestic dog that would not comprehend NO or stop won't comprehend what you are attempting to tell it. I did this with mine - would not require beating up. *Hand feed your domestic dog* - you may start with uncomplicated treats or hand feed a number of her meals to her in the past you place the bowl down. The minute you experience her the teeth merely say OUCH loudly and take your hand away. try returned till you spot her taking it heavily and thats once you provide it to her. as quickly as she is familiar with the belief, upload a be conscious to it - SLOWLY! Works quite properly. After each and every week or 2 of this, make it extra complicated for her to get to the meals. Hitting her inclusive of your hand basically shows her that palms are undesirable... and he or she would be in a position to attack/chew palms while she grows up. So i could shop far flung from that. She's teething - so that's quite helpful to get her some chew toys or provide her chilly, complicated carrots or domestic dog chews. you will get her to stop chewing your stuff via making her comprehend NO and stop. I choose I knew how my domestic dog discovered it lol I cant bear in mind. Take her for a 10-15 minute walk approximately 15-20 minutes after each and each meal. A drained domestic dog is a superb domestic dog. A domestic dog who has all her capability will exchange into bored and chew and be somewhat on the aggressive component(it quite is surely domestic dog play for her yet wild canines habit to us). in case you're unhappy together with her habit - i could advise IGNORING her. this is the main painful ingredient for a canines. do no longer provide a domestic dog the outing, provide your self a outing. walk out of the room or walk into yet another room and slam the door close in her face.

He's just a puppy and he's lonely. Get an obedience class and a good puppy book. Raising a puppy is not a simple matter.

i think he misses you and your family. you should try and put a toy or something in the crate, or let him sleep with you until he is older.
