Depends how far the cancer had progressed. My father absolutely refused to see a doctor until he was finally so sick he didn't have enough energy to walk. He was diagnosed with lung cancer and liver cancer which had metaisized to his brain and had a tumor on his stomache that had attached itself to all his major organs. He only lived a month.

But if caught early enough and controlled with medication and Chemotherapy, people with lung cancer can live up to 20 or 30 years in pretty decent health.

Have you or someone you know been diagnosed with lung cancer? If so, I'm very sorry. Everything will be ok as long as it's treated and taken care of by professionals! Cancer is not curable but completely treatable. Just be strong!!!

depends on how early the cancer is diagnosed and also how far the cancer has progressed by the time it is discovered. the problem with lung cancer is that in most cases, it is not discovered until it is a bit further advanced. people with lung cancer often dont feel any side effects or symptoms until they start getting short of breath, chest pain etc...and by this time, the cancer is more advanced. some people, if they under go treatment such as chemotherapy or radiation, may be able to prolong their life for months or maybe even years...but it is different in each person depending on the cancer itself, the treatment, and the person's body and how it respponds.

It depends on the stage of cancer the person is in. Level 1 has a good chance of making it for several years level 3 your chances decrease. level 4 and 5 is even worse. My mom was diagnosed with level 3 almost a four. she lived 9 months. If the person is in levels 3 and 4 the norm is 6 to 9 months. level 5 they do not have long to live. Sometimes people do make it when they are level 3. I am sorry if someone you love has got this disease.

I know a couple people who were diagnosed w/lung cancer, one of them lived 3 mths, the other lived 4 mths. Sorry to give you such unhappy news but I also know someone who had lung cancer, had most (possibly all) of a lung removed, continues to smoke, is around 60ish and doing fine. Every case is different. Timing of the diagnosis is key.

Depending on the stage of the lung cancer, the 5 year survival rate for a primary lung tumor is less than 5%
Sometimes in desperation, lung cancer pts start chemotherapy and radiation which hastens their death. I think they actually die from being physically beaten from chemotheraputic agents they should have never gotten in the 1st place.
If the lung cancer mets to the brain or liver, the survival rate is less than a year, and truthfully, that is being generous.

Normally, staging of cancer is rather late in the game since most physicians won't order scans for the lungs until there is some symptons. The lungs are a parallel organ in their usage so there won't be a a great deal of symptons until the tumor is very progressed or it has metastized. Unfortunatley, this means that it's not caught until very late in the game. Normally, 5 years is unheard of. Normally, 2-3 years is considered good.

depend on how long the cancer it is. My dad went to the Dr. supposed to be for check-up for complaining he had chest pain.. after that he undergo for C.T scan then we found out he has a tumor in his lung and it is a cancer, after the diagnosed he died exactly 6months.. he did'nt like to undergo for chemoteraphy b'coz before that, his friend also died 3months after the chemotheraphy with a lung cancer also.... if u have a family who have a lung cancer, be strong and show to him/her that u care and give all the love and care u have...

I would say once treatment is stopped in metastatic lung cancer, it is fair to say survival is nearly always less than 6 months, and frequently less than 3 months. I'm sorry to not have better news. Pray and help him enjoy life to the fullest. Blessings

It would all depend on how advanced the lung cancer is. I am not a doctor nor do I claim to be one. My mom had C.O.P.D. She smoked for so many, many years. It was not a pretty site to watch her die. Her request was not to die alone in which she did not.

Who ever you are talking about, I do wish them well.
