You don't say how old you & your mother are; but I can sympathize with you. My 74 year old mother has always thought she was my twin !
I STILL have to remind her that I am almost FIFTY; and I am my own person, and I HAVE no twin. Almost every conversation is "WE" (meaning me & her ) when it should be " I " ...
I used to let it bother me....guess I got older....or I just don't give a flip anymore !
But I think people who do that are AVOIDING the fact that THEY are getting older, and that they are NOT the daughters' age anymore. Some look at it as , "well, I'm my daughters' "friend"....not her mother"....not wanting to face facts...that they will always be a parent and not a girlfriend !
It probably will never change; so you need to put up "boundries" now, and never let her cross them. Everyones' boundries are different.

She may be doing this for many reasons.
1. She may want you to feel like you can relate to her or talk to her,..etc..that even though she is Mom and older than you are, she understands. Maybe she thinks it will please you more,..you know, stuff like that.
2. Maybe you make her feel old and she is feeling insecure because of that. She may look and act younger because it makes her feel young again and like she still has it going on.
If it bugs you, find a cool way to tell her. No need to hurt her feelings, just express your thoughts to her.
Mom's can be pretty silly,..I know,..I am one.

because some mothers to me are trying to be more like you to maybe make it easier for you to come to them about problems, maybe she is trying to understand you which is a good thing, better than a lot of mothers out there. maybe so you guys can go shopping together or just spend time together, whatever it is im sure it isnt anything negative.

Some might do it, because they want to be able to identify with you and be your friend, as well as your mom, so they try to do what you and your friends do.
Others probably dont like their age and want to be young again.
