alright, well as far as SUVs go, if you want room, power and a modifiable ride. Go with a tahoe or and escalade. Few people know that the tahoe comes available with a 6.0L V8 with 350 horsepower. The power is amazing and the fuel economy is about 14 road 19 highway. not to shabby for a big SUV. if you want power and fuel economy go with the trailblazer. rated at 16 to 22. and then there's the equinox, rated at 16 to 22 as well with a 3.4L V6....btw you can get an Ls2 400hp v8 in the trailblazer SS.
Now as far as cars go....you could go used and get a trans am or camaro z28 or SS...come stock with 325 hp...350 lbs of torque. and that's stock, spend about 1400 bucks on a high flow air system, headers, coils, exhaust, and a chip and you've got right around 450 horsepower. quality of parts will yield success.
Another car that's really fun to drive is the cobalt SS supercharged....looks great drives better....210 hp. off the lot and can take a mustang gt off the line.
But this basically comes down to what you want. If your looking for quality go for GM cars (they don't have the best resale value for nothing.), gas mileage- go foreign....Stay away from Fords, and some dodges....no offense they're good cars, but if you want something to last a really long time and be the most reliable car...go GM....

Ford, because their Hybrids get great gas mileage, and they are great for Familys and they even have a lot of room.

I strongly agree--Nissan, unless you want a smaller one-then check Subaru also.
