The fry pan should be hot enough to sizzle when a couple of drops of water are sprinkled in the margarine (or whatever you use). Make sure you have enough grease in the pan to coat the bottom well. Wait until the white of the egg is not transparent anymore and then softly flip the egg. If you want a soft yolk, let it set for about 30 seconds; done. If you want a hard yolk, let it set for as long as you like. Takes a little bit of practice to flip an egg without breaking yolk, but a couple of times and you should get the hang of it OK.

the fresher the egg the less likely the yolk will break also it does take practice but you need to concentrate on the flip of the wrist when turning over and try to be gentle

2 ways--- Don't flip it...just spoon some oil on it till till the thin layer over the yoke turns white. Or do what restaurants do.....get a smaller lid than the pan and sprinkle a few drops of water in the pan--cover with the small lid just a few seconds.

let the egg cook on the one side for a while, let the top of the white part solidify as much as possible, when you turn it over keep the egg as close to the pan as possible to prevent the yoke from breaking. also using a non stick pan helps

You have to flip it very carefully. It also helps if you use the right pan. It can be a little challenging at first but it's not so bad once you get used to it.
