I asked a stylist at the salon I work at this exact same question. She said your hair is going to grow at the rate that it's growing, BUT you must maintain healthy hair to get better results. If you get a trim at least once a month, it will keep the ends healthy so by the time your hair grows out the ends will be just as healthy as the roots, leaving less dead hair to split, become damaged, or fall out.
If you let your hair grow out without maintenance, it will just looked as if it's not growing at all, or as fast as it really is, because of the fact that the ends are dead.
I'm not sure if that makes too much sense. But ... mk.

Make sure your body is healthy. Most of us do not get way enough minerals - so a product like Body Balance from Life Force would be a great start. Good protein in your diet - legumes, brown rice, green veggies all helps. Scalp massages to stimulate the hair follicles. I have also heard that nipping the ends once month at about 1/4 of an inch....

Yeah take in calcium. Also if you google this I know there is a chemical you can put into your hair that helps it grow faster. I don't really know how good it works but I had a friend that had tried it. Also hair extensions are another option to longer hair faster.

You can eat plenty of protein. A balanced diet is very important. Also get a good amount of excercise because is it good for the circulation which is good for the hair. I have also used GNC UltraNourishair. Those are hair vitamin supplements that help make the hair thicker and grow faster.

The best way to make your hair grow faster is time.I know that's not a great answer in all, but it's the only way.Trust me, I know I have been growing out my hair for eight years now, and it's to my knees. But if you dont want to wait that long try extension's they can give lenght in minutes

If you do these three things, you will help your hair grow within 3-6 months but you must do all of them... take Vitamin E and Biotin pills. You can get them at GNC. Also, massage your scalp all over every night to stimulate the blood flow in your scalp. Lastly eat alot of protein because protein builds hair follicles.

I've heard of herbal supplements... I'm not really sure that's the way to go, though.
While shaving your head is a bit extreme, keeping the hair ends trim is a good way to promote normal, healthy growth (it keeps away split ends).
If your hair is already actually quite long, then it might just be slowing down naturally--hair seems to hit a "maximum length".
