Lets call it Political Arabic Culture. It's all nonsense

Allah says in Quran. "Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has made one of them to excel the other, and because they spend (to support them) from their means." (4:34)

So we are like body guards and providers. I would say slaves. For example, if we have a queen (women) in a house we have
protect them and give them the money they need. Only if Muslim women knew how much rights they have.

The Prophet (pbuh) said:

‘Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not harm his neighbors. And I command you to take good care of the women.’ (Bukhari)

Even when women misbehave, tolerance and not violence is recommended, as a way to solve the problem. The Prophet (pbuh) said:

‘No believing man should hate a believing woman, if he hates one of her manners, he should be satisfied with another.’

Again, the Prophet (pbuh) stressed this meaning, saying:

‘The believers who have the best manners are those who have the most perfect faith. The best amongst you are the best towards their wives.’ (Tirmidhi)

well in quran the woman doesn't come 2nd but she may come 3rd, 4th even 5th if the "MAN" has 4 wives.
But in bible as well things were not so nice....
We see Abraham had Sara but made a son with Sara's maid.
Jacob, had couple wives and their maidens......
King Solomon (The Wise, I like him because he was the one who gave a good wack to women's movement for "liberation"), had 700 wives and 300 cucubines.
"Christians"???????
Well, despite what Paul says, "that a woman must not speak in public"... etc etc . By Jesus mouth we have the affirmation that "he didn't come to abolish the LAW but to complete it".
Well..something wrong in here...complete meand to add not to abstruct.....
So, Christians normaly should have more than 700 wives and more than 300 cucubines and all the men should follow King Solomon's example
(I think that the many women, was his secret pathway to wisdom, because having one wife in all our life, we lose what ever we have, even if there are intications that some day we could become wise....:()

The Hijab is not a sign of oppression for women. It also does not symbolize weakness. The Hijab represents our faith. It represents our strength. We don't conform to what society wants us to do. Imagine the number of stares Muslim women get and they still wear it. Muslim women are aware of the negative connotation surrounding the Hijab but they understand the meaning behind it and still wear it. It takes a strong women to do that. Also, the Hijab puts Muslim women on a pedastal. The Quran tells Men to lower their gaze. It allows Men to focus on our faith, our personality, and who we are rather than our beauty or lack thereof. It prevents us from sexual desires with people we do not know. Personally I think it is degrading for women to walk around half-naked and men to look at them like their just objects with no soul. In Islam, it is like women are precius gems that should not be touched. I am a Muslim woman and I thank Allah that I am. Thank You for listening.

I don't know about the Quran but it's in the bible.
Christians have the same rule.
It's not in our culture anymore though.
We should bring it back into use.

The Qur’an also speaks of similarity in terms of creation. God tells us that He created a single soul and from it its mate, then He made countless men and women from those two (see Qur’an 4:1). The Qur’an does not contain the belief that the man alone is created in the image of God.

"And they (women) have rights similar to those of men over them in a just manner" Qur'an, 2:228

The noble Qur'an, 4:124. "And whoso does good works, whether of male or female, and he (or she) is a believer, such will enter paradise and they will not be wronged the dint in a date stone."

========

In the last sermon of Prophet Muhammad pbuh, he said
"O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under Allah's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste"

This sermon was delivered on the Ninth Day of Dhul Hijjah, 10 A.H. in the 'Uranah valley of Mount Arafat' (in Mecca).

Both religions (Christianity and Islam) are patriarchal. In fact, most (all) societies and cultures were at the inception of those religions.

God will ask every men and women on the behavior He/she has done.

men and women are physically, emotionally, and mentally different. it's not about 2nd place, it's about duties and responsibilities.

The bible also says that women are to be submissive to their husbands. Just thought I would point that out.
