Seems they've "found" a book of Psalms in a Irish bog. They have "dated" the find at 800-1000 years old (without actual radiometric dating too...) and the clincher is that the book was found open.
And they say it's legible.
So I'm wondering how many idiots will actually believe this thing is authentic? The fact is; Vellum would never have survived. The insects in the bog would have had a feast.
Leather survives fairly well as does human flesh if it's buried deep enough, but vellum? Tasty treat for the bugs.
But some people actually believe (and I still can't fathom the ignorance that goes with this) that the shroud of Turin is authentic. And that the James Ossuary is authentic too, despite the fact that it's been proven to be an outright fraud.
Never underestimate the stupidity of the average christian and you'll never be dissapointed. <= My new motto...

Yoda, Yoda, always such entertaining questions.Consider the gullibility of the average Christian and think, half of them are even more gullible.

I have to agree with you, but for another reason, Even if it were real 1000 years old doesn't get. The book of Revelation over 1900 hundred years ago had a curse on it as it was the end of the Bible. Rev 22 vs 18 He who adds to the prophesy of this book will be added to the plagues there in. There is no more Revelation. What ever is written will not be Divine.

How sad your life must be. Rather than try and find errors and inconsistancies in another man's faith, perhaps you should find your own faith. True faith is blind, not stupid. Who cares if a man or woman believes in the authenticity of this book? If that man or woman is able to derive some sort of peace or solace from it, then it has actually served it's purpose...whether it is what it is supposed to be or not. Simply be happy for the people that are able to use this book in a positive light, as opposed to the incredible negativity that is pouring throughout your message. I am sorry you have had a life as empty as you have and I wish the best of luck in finding whatever will make you happy.

The true Christians in the world dont need another "find" to aunthenticate their faith. They already know.
The shroud of Turin is just a hunch and does not mean a thing to those of faith but a general interest.
You can do all the "estimating" you want and in the overall scheme of things, your opinion matters about as much as the turin does.

Well we Christians arent as dumb as you might think, if its only 1000 years old then it cannot be an original Psalm now can it? Could it be a copy of a Psalm from 1000 years ago? Sure but there are Biblical texts much older than that. So I dont see your point really.

I'm glad you said "average" christian because I'm not. You'll also discover that many christians haven't read the Bible through even once, and even more find it hard to understand and misinterpret so much of it, so they believe whatever they hear in church, and in other places (such as the media).

Of course most Americans believe anything the media says anyway, whether they are christian or not.

Is this like a neighborhood watch? Thanks for the update. Just offering an explanation. If you take old paper/whatever the wrote on at the time, and use old style ink to write on it (you have to know what you are doing) you can make a document, 5 minutes old appear to be thousands of years old. If it had survived, it would prove nothing, except that ideal conditions for preservation exist naturally.

Awful quick to make a judgment, aren't you? I just heard about this a few minutes ago. I have to admit, I'm curious, and I hope we'll get to hear more about this. Could be a fraud, but it is too early to know.
You're gonna look awful stupid if the thing turns out to be authentic.

Thats a lie. All the books are already in the holy bible. No other books are out there. Your statement is fraudulent.
