try using the patch and slowly step down. if that doesnt work, try seeing a doctor and asking him/her to write you a prescription for a drug called bupropion. It's brand name is either Zyban or Wellbutrin. It is used to decrease the cravings that a person gets while attempting to quit smoking. If you decide to use the gum, I heard that it doesn't taste very well. Also, you are only suppose to chew it for a few minutes and then park it between your teeth and cheek. This way, your body will absorb the nicotine.

Nicotine gum sometimes helps, though not chewed as much as the package recommends. Know that the first ten days are the physical withdrawal. It is easier after that.

Willpower is your only permanent asset. I loved to smoke, not just as a habit. Cigarettes were company and entertainment. I quit once for 2 1/2 years, then, being around smokers, I figured one pack wouldn't hurt. That led to another three years of smoking. I quit again five months ago, and this time it is taking much longer to regain normal breathing.

The resolve of not wanting cigarette smoking to control my life works for me. I didn't even realize how much cigarettes dictated my budget, schedule, and thoughts until I was several weeks into having quit smoking. Your brain's control is surely bigger than it.

I quit using the nicotine patch. I have been smoke-free for about 1 year. I admit it is not easy, but it is one of the best things I have ever done. Also, try not to think about it. Do something to take your mind off of a cigarette. I don't think about it anymore just like I never smoked in the first place. Except when I get stressed, then I crave. But the craving doesn't last long. (5 mins. tops)
Hang in there. I wish you luck. I'm telling you, I am soooo happy I quit!!

the hardest thing for me was walking into a store the temptation would eat at me but it is easier to just do what you have been doing. Keep your strength at saying no and keep gum always helps too, it keeps your mouth busy. It really does get easier with time so just keep it off and you will be fine ... good luck to you!!!

Think of the person you love most in your life .In the name of that person swear that you will never smoke. Each time you are able to control yourself tell that person how lucky you are to have him /her in your life. And when you finally quit throw a small party with the money you saved .Don't forget me .I will certainly be very happy for you.
