Why are people quoting the OT? I am looking for Jesus' words, as recorded in the NT, specifically in the Gospels.

Folks: please reread my question - don't read INTO my question (or assume what my premise is or isn't). The responses to my question here go in all sorts of directions that are the topic of heated debate today - in contrast, my question is simple. But many of you complicated it and tied it into all that debate. I wasn't asking anyone to make any argument.
I was asking for Jesus comments on these three issues as recorded in the four Gospels - the books that document his time/life/works/words while here one earth.
Not the writings of Paul, not the OT, just the words of Jesus.

He DID NOT! Those laws were from the old testament.(and it talks about homosexuiality in the new but not speicically Jesus speaking)
Thats why I always say that Christians should focus their time and energy NOT on protesting gay marriage, and anti-abortion but they should do as Jesus did during his wonderful ministry on earth. Filling it with love.♥
They should be feeding the hungry, helping the sick, volunteering in shelters and showing the world how wonderful God's love is!

The person who quoted Leviticus is not answering the question - that is in the third book of the bible, the old testament. Jesus never said anything about those issues. Earlier writings did, later ones did, but nothing he was supposed to have said ever mentioned the subjects you are asking about.
The book fo Romans was written by Paul and he never met Jesus, never mentioned his birth or his miracles. Read his letters and it's like he knew nothing about the guy the other four gospels are talking about.

You are proceeding from a false premise. Jesus was the fulfillment of Old Testament scripture, which exposes the sinful nature of homosexuality and celebrates the God-given value placed on every person from the moment of conception onward. There are numerous passages to support these positions in the Old Testament. Jesus refers constantly to the scriptures in the Gospels. Therefore, to understand the context in which He lived on earth, you need to know the Old Testament law, which forbade such things as homosexuality and abortion as sins against God. Please remember that when Jesus walked among people, the laws of the Old Testament were also the civil law (I know that Roman law as also civil law in Judea and the rest of the Roman empire)
Jesus did not set out the new convenant until the end of His earthly ministry (this was done at the Last Supper). Therefore, when he compared Capernaum to Sodom and when he told people to sin no more, he was referring to and confirming the Old Testament laws. Your premise that states that you need to know what the exact words of Jesus were on these topics is false. He encompasses scripture, which I would recommend you study further. May God bless and keep you.

Homosexuality is described as an abomination and sin in the book of Leviticus.
As for the new testament, the book of Romans says:
Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
Obviously, God does not hate "fags", but the sin is still sin and an abomination to Him. It's no worse a sin than any of the many others man of all shapes, colors, and ages commit against Him daily. People need to stop throwing stones and start examining their own lives before confronting the errors of others.

Basic info:
Jesus came to uphold and fulfill the law, so you have to look in the old testament to find the law.
Because people obeyed the law concerning homosexuality and murder, there were no gays, civil marriages or abortions. This was an abomination and people would have been stoned to death. Therefore, it was not necessary for Jesus to mention these things. It is unfortunate that other sexual sins occured like prostitution, adultery, etc. Jesus had to deal with thoses issues, and his command was to "go and sin no more." Jews valued life. Abortion was unthinkable.
People will fill your heads with words that are against the bible to win you over. Remember, you will not find anywhere in the bible that says these things are OK.
I am glad you are asking questions. I hope you find God's truth, and not listen to man's version.

One of the few New Testament references I believe, is in Romans:
"Romans 1:25-27
25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator-- who is forever praised. Amen.
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones.
27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion."
However, from most studies I have read, the belief is that even this section really carries over from Old Testament writings.
There really isn't much at all in the new testament about homosexuality. However, as you well know, there is plenty on compassion, not judging, turning the other cheek, and many other things people tend not to focus on--seeking instead to persecute and judge their brothers and sisters.
Peace friend

Since Jesus is the word of God made flesh (John 1), the entire Bible would be what Jesus had to say about those subjects.
Homosexuality:
1 Cor. 6: 9-10 : DO NOT BE DECEIVED: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexual offenders, nor theives, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor swindlers will inherit the Kingdom of God.
Civil marriage:
1 Cor. 11:9 : Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.
Abortion: Deut. 5:17, Exodus 20:13, Matt. 5:21, Rom. 13:9
Thou shalt not kill

as long as issues are the way they are, we would have the conflict against ideas. some would be on the section that asserts 'it offends me', at the same time as others on the different section say, " Why will no longer be able to I." i do no longer agree, however i'm a Christina, with dropping time of the devisive subject of gay Marriage. it extremely is basically too chasm forming to the real component Christians might desire to evangelise, it extremely is: Jesus saves people who have confidence in Him. so a techniques as regulation making is going, i might make the government meet purely some situations a 365 days and cause them to make their funds doing regardless of they are able to interior the own sector. complete time politicians bring about extra corruption.,

God hates nobody. It never says that. It's a misinterpretation. Jesus taught us to love everybody, friend, "enemy," and everyone in between.
There are some vague references in the Old Testament (hence, not anything Jesus said), but then the Old Testament also tells us in detail how to treat our slaves. So the Bible literalists (who claim you have to take everything in the Bible literally) apparently think owning slaves is just dandy.
Hmm.
True Christians don't hate anyone. They love and accept all, as we were taught. People who claim the Bible bans gays ought to take a look at the *WHOLE* Bible before deciding "what's relevant."
