Oh god I remember having a horribly spoiled min pin about 5 years ago. yes, he wants attention all the time because he is a pup. and yes, you are spoiling him. Don't spoil a min pin!! they are smart, almost too smart!! If he knows he can get all the attention he wants now, I assure you he will remember how you spoil him even when he gets to 10 years old. You don't want to have a spoil min pin in your house, because they know how can they get to you. I gave my min pin all the attention he wanted when he was a pup. When he grew up, and I didn't spoil him that bad, he peed on my sofa because he knew that will pissed me off the most. I am not saying you should ignore you pup. I am just saying, he needs to learn you have the power of giving affection. Can you see your angelic little pup is trying to control you by making you give attention when he wants attention? Min pin needs a leader and they will listen to their leader. However, they will want to be the leader when they see their chance. Give him the right amout of attention, but also make sure you won't let him take over. When he cries, you can ignore him. After he stops, wait a little while(so that he doesn't start and stop whining to get your attention), then pet him. Make him understand that he will get affection, but whining isn't the way to get it. Good luck with your little pup!

He isn't spoiled yet but if you keep jumping for his every whimper he will be. But what the heck, min pin's were made to be spoiled. Truthfully he may be feeling a little separation anxiety because he was recently separated from his mama. He is probably feeling a little insecure and is just looking for someone to help him through this. There is nothing wrong with giving extra and special attention to a puppy. They are just like babies. They need the extra attention. Right now you are laying the foundation for your relationship and the rules for the puppy. Remember that he will grow up so start training him young. The sooner you start obedience training the happier your relationship will be. Good Luck and congratulations on finding such a neat breed of dog to become part of your family, you won't regret it.

At 7 weeks he needs some attention, but letting him cry is ok too. He needs to learn that you cannot pick him up every time he wimpers. (Especially if he is going to be a big dog)
Picking him up once in a while is ok...but not every time he whines. (they are just like children....they will be come overly attached and dependent and not be able to do things for themselves or be with out you for longer than 5 minutes)
I have a 4 month old beagle and she was that way when I first got her and it killed me at first to ignore her, but I did.
Soon she realized that I wasn't going to pick her up every time she wimpered or cried, and she is able to play alone or lay beside me while I am on the computer, etc...
hope this helps.

At 7 weeks he is NOT SPOILED. IF you continue to baby him then later on he will act the same though. He just wants attention because hes a puppy. Dogs require attention and your dog just likes to be held, so either do it or listen to the whinning.... your choice!

He will be spoiled if he continues to get his way.Make him do something before you pick him up..like a nice sit. This is a perfect opportunity to establish who is the boss and for him to learn something. When he does his sit his reward is cuddling,so you get to spoil him in the end.

He is probably a little insecure because he is young. Just make sure you don't give him what he wants every time he cries for it. He needs to learn to console himself or he will never grow up to be a well rounded grown doggie.

I would pick him up for the first week or so while you have him, just while he is getting settled in. Once he is settled I would not pick him up while he is crying, but once he stops crying.
