Hemorrhoids are for the rich. Piles are for the poor. And why not looking it up on a doctor site? It would give you more info than answers.

That site is pretty good at describing it.

hemorroids are caused by too much blood being trapped in the blood vessels at the opening of or just inside the anal canal. Yes once you have had a hemorrhoid flare up, it does make it easier to have it occur again. Eat plenty of fiber, (vegies, fruit, bran), so that bowel movements do not require forcing. That is the number one cause of hemorrhoids. They can be incredibly painful, and may even require surgery in extreme cases, but with proper nutrition and basically everyday common sense, life can be pleasant, even riding a bike!

Hemorrhoids are abnormally swollen veins in the rectum and anus. They are much like varicose veins you might see on a person's legs. When bulging hemorrhoidal veins are irritated, they cause surrounding membranes to swell, burn, itch, become very painful, and bleed. Hemorrhoids are caused by too much pressure in the rectum, forcing blood to stretch and bulge the walls of the veins, sometimes rupturing them. And they can be cured. Listed below are the most frequent causes of hemorrhoids:
Constant sitting
Straining with bowel movements (from constipation or hard stools)
Diarrhea
Sitting on the toilet for a long time
Severe coughing
Childbirth
Heavy Lifting

Hemorhoids are swollen blood vessels in and around the anal area. They bulge under pressure, which is why pregnant women often have them. External (thrombosed), hemorrhoids can be very painful and, at some point may require medical intervention. Although most hemorrhoids seem to go away, there are those whose hemorrhoids return time and time again and they opt for some medical solution.

What are HEMORRHOIDS?
- Hemorrhoids (also known as piles) are basically swollen veins in the anus and anal canal.
- Hemorrhoids are composed of blood vessels (veins), smooth muscles, and supporting tissue.
- Everyone has hemorrhoids and they are a normal part of the human anus and rectal canal. Their function is to cushion the anal canal during defecation.
- Hemorrhoids can be classified according to their location as external (close to the anal opening), internal (farther up the anal canal), and internal-external (mixed).
- Once a problem occurs with hemorrhoids, the sufferer may be more prone to outbreaks or flare-ups in the future.
Hemorrhoids may result from:
- Increased rectal pressure during defecation (hard stool, constipation)
- Pregnancy
- Standing for long periods of time
- Decreased physical activity or highly strenuous activity (such as lifting heavy objects)

They are inflammed veins in your colon, caused by not eating enough roughage like grains, fruits, and veggies. They can get so painful and bleed and enlarged that you have to have them surgically removed. Anyone that has them should eat bran, whole wheat breads and don't sit on cold concrete. You have to do life changing things to change this....preperation H is just for relief, not a cure. Good luck
If you're a pain in the *** well, that's why they call you that!

Hemorrhoids are blood vessels, normally present in and around the anus and lower rectum, that have become swollen due to stretching under pressure. Not a lot of fun. There are several over the counter medications but if frequently there is a surgery to get rid of them. :-)

I have hemmorroids. I got them from when I was pregnant with my first child. Basically, it is an enlarged vein in your anus. Sometimes, they are on the inside of your anus or on the outside. You get them from pushing a lot and this makes your vessels swell and buldge. I am not sure if you can get rid of them as I have had them for about 7 years now. Mine aren't painful unless I have to use the restroom, but I have heard of some that require cold applied to help them go down in swelling.

They can also be obtained from pregnancy or if you have the tendency to get them. They can be external or internal in rectum and certain foods can cause them to flare up (grow even more swollen). They can be removed via surgery but it is not a guarantee that they will stay gone.

the are varicose veins of the rectum
They usually come and go. Sometimes if severe, they can be removed by a process called banding.
But for temp relief, prep H works to shrink the vessels
