You have to know Allah (God in arabic) based on what he revealed through Messengers/Prophets. Otherwise, you would have many sects and people doing their own thing. The religion will by confusing and mixed up. Islam has strict set of guidelines of belief about God. Also a strict guideline on how to worship God as well. The most essential part of Islam is to know God in the correct way. If you do not you are wasting your time. This concept is called Tawheed (oneness of God). The most important aspect that Quran covers is concept of who God is. Read the Quran. Just take it one step at a time and ask God to guide you in the process. You do your part and God will guide you.
We say God is not male or female. God is not like his creation having a gender. The word Allah cannot be made plural or feminine but the word 'God' can be.

It's a common question - it's actually part of the GCSE exam in ISLAM - I'm Muslim - but we believe that we have to worship God or Allah as we are told in the Quaran - which means he has no gender - no body - he is just 'an idea' we believe in him - he has no form - he was not born nor can he die - he has no parents he just is - no one is to say how he came to be - he knows all and sees all - and he has no children and associating any partenrs with him such as idols are believing in divinity such as giving him a female or male shape as you are saying is considered the greatest Sin in Islam it is called 'shirk' in Arabic - So in other words you're either Muslim or you ain't :( - so i dont really think there is any way around that. - Hope that helps
There really is no compromise and technically he cannot marry you anyway if you are not Orthodox Muslim, Jewish or Christian.
You need to read up on it.

I converted to Islam 5 years ago, and i am only loving Islam more and more the more i go deeper, the same will happen with you.
Allah is the Only God that exists, and He's not a male nor a female, we can't think of what God is or how he looks, becuse He's like nothing at all, we are only human and God is greater than everything He himself created.
Islam is the fastest growing religion on earth, simply because it's a wonderful and a PERFECT religioin..
Welcome to Islam sister ..

Hang on, you're Pagan, if you believe in God now and can acknowledge Allah, as a male of female, isn't that a contradiction to what you believe?!
I think you need to do some homework and have a serious think, Islam may be intriguing, but their lives are way different to yours.
Fore armed is fore warned, research is a must.

I think that Gods do not have genetalia, and therefore we shouldn't hold fast to the idea of them being of one or another gender. We accept them as Father or Mother because that is what makes sense in our minds. We use He or She because It seems disrespectful and we don't have another word. The reality of the Divine is beyond human understanding, at least while we are limited by our fleshly brains. Unfortunately, as I am not a Muslim, I don't know if you seeing Allah as feminine would be a stoning sin or not(figuritively, of course). If it were, it would make no sense to me, personally. But I am nobody.

Well, you need more help than you think. First I would read some critical commentary in Islam before I jumped from pagan. I do not recommend pagan either-but you have already chosen that. Check on Islam- read "Islam Revealed" by Dr Annis Shorrosh, or some material by Dr Ergin Canner at Liberty University. I am afraid you are playing with something that will hurt you.

It does not matter if you and this guy both share the desire to be together in partnership but each keep your own religion. If, on the other hand, either of you expects conversion, then I think you need to acknowledge that there may indeed be real differences between the panentheist (and often feminine-imaged) deity concept of your religion and the monotheist (and necessarily imageless) deity concept of his. I do not think you can elide the differences between the two faiths. At the same time, you may find that if you build a life together, your shared spiritual focus on your respective images of the Most Sacred may be a constant source of discovery of both similarities and differences. Inter-religious relationships can work well, but an important step is not to falsely efface differences in belief and practice.

Honestly, yes. Faith in Allah, as the one and only God is one of the five pillars of Islam. I don't mean to turn you away from the religion, but as a Muslim, I am not going to lie to you. However, keep trying, the more you read, you might change your mind. Allah guides those who seeks his guidance and it sounds as if you are making a concerted effort. Don't worry, do good deeds, live a good life and Allah will take care of you:)

i think the question you have to ask is .. if it doesnt matter how we see god .. are you prepared to accept god in a male form .. does it not matter that much ?
i agree islam sounds a beautiful religion and by all means do more study and see if it is for you .. but i do feel it would mean changing some of the beliefs you hold quite strong
personally to me every god is one god with a different name only and neither male or female , so it would not matter to me ( if i was in your position that is )
wish you well in your search xx

U seem an openminded persondespite u saiy that u have stuck in a "cart" which is called "pagan"
Well.... noone is perfect.
But to jump to a cart full of "Sh***", it doesn't give much honor and u degrade yourself as an openminded freethinking person.
Religion and spirituality are two different things.....
Dogmas are distinguish the Religions from the spirituality
Islam is a Dogma and a tough one indeed.
Free spirit cannot survive there....and without spirit, human being is DEAD...
The choice is yours.
